WARNINGS :
- Note that only one person can use the lanyard at a time.
- Before using this product, carefully read through these
instructions and keep them safe.
- If this product is to be resold outside the first destination
country, the reseller must provide this instructions manual,
drafted in the language of the country in which the product
will be used.
- Any work at heights is risky; only individuals with perfect
health and in good physical condition should work at heights
and confront any emergency situations.
- This equipment is a vital safety instrument; any incorrect use
can cause mortal danger to the user in case of a fall.
- Please note that in a fall arresting system, only an EN361 fall
arrester harness can be used for holding the body.
- The lanyards are not designed to make a noose.
- This equipment should not be used beyond its limits or in any
other situation than the one(s) for which it is designed.
- It is recommended to individually allocate this product to a
single user.
- Only a person who is trained and competent, or one who is
under the surveillance of such a person, may use this product.
- Ensure that there is a rescue plan in place that is properly
understood before and during use so as to enable safe and
effective intervention if required. Before starting the work, take
the appropriate precautions when using the lanyard, especially
when there is a possible load on a sharp edge.
DESCRIPTION :
The work positioning lanyard is compliant with standard EN358:
Length
Adjustment
(m)
buckle
Forged aluminium
0,5 to 1,7
self-lock device
Stainless steel
0,5 to 1,7
smooth ring
2018. It is designed as a component of the restraint system or
a work positioning system as defined in the EN363 standard,
when a risk of falling from height exists. The static strength is
more than 15kN.
The work positioning lanyard has an adjustment system. It is
made from:
• 30 mm wide polyester webbing (NLSRxxyy series). The sewn
termination is sheathed on the identification side – Optionally,
the loop can be strengthened using a heat shrink sheath -
Adjustment system by aluminium self-lock buckle.
• Polyamide cord with braided sheath of Ø10.5 mm (NLDxxyy
/ NLDYxxyy series). The terminations are sewn, sheathed, and
have thimbles - Adjustment system by stainless steel smooth
ring.
The lanyard is usually delivered with or without connector
(fixed or detachable) and according to varying lengths from 0.5
m to 1.7 m (#2).
VERIFICATIONS :
- Ensure by visual inspection that the equipment is in good
working condition and free of defects before, during and
after its use: condition of lanyards, sewn parts, connectors.
Check to ensure that there is/are no wearing, cuts, fraying,
initial signs of breaking, deformation, traces of oxidation,
knots or discolouration and ensure that all the markings
are legible (identification and/or date of validity). Check the
proper condition of the connectors and ensure that they are
functioning properly.
- If there is any doubt on the reliability of the equipment, do
not use it without getting the written authorisation of a person
who is authorised to decide on its reuse.
- During assembly with other safety components, check the
compatibility of each of the components and ensure that all
the recommendations contained in the instructions of the
products and the applicable standards relating to the anti-fall
system are applied. It is important to particularly ensure that
the safety function of any of the components is not affected
by the safety function of another and that they do not interfere
with each other.
- Before every use of a fall-arrest system, the empty space
(clearance) required under the user must be verified so that, in
case of a fall, there is no collision with the ground, or with a fixed
or moving obstacle that is within the fall trajectory.
Avoid straying too far from the anchorage point to limit the
extent of a possible pendulum fall.
USE :
- A work positioning lanyard must not be used for arresting falls.
- It is obligatory to use a fall arrestor system along with it.
- The work positioning lanyard has a length-adjustment system.
It is intended for:
• Attaching the lateral rings of a work positioning belt to a pole,
mast or a tree so that the user's hands are free (work restraint)
• Attaching the dorsal or sternal rings of a fall arrestor harness
to an anchor point so as to avoid zones where there is a risk
of falling (limitation of movement). It is obligatory for the fall
arrestor system to be connected to the dorsal part of the
harness, or at the end of the extension strap (if present), or at
the two sternal rings simultaneously. These points are identified
