This reciprocating saw is a professional power tool.

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS

Inserting and Removing the Battery Pack
from the Tool (Fig. E)
nOTE: Make sure your battery pack
To Install the Battery Pack into the Tool Handle
Align the battery pack with the rails inside the tool's handle

(Fig. E).
1. Slide it into the handle until the battery pack is firmly seated
in the tool and ensure that you hear the lock snap into place.
To Remove the Battery Pack from the Tool
1. Press the release button

2. Insert battery pack into the charger as described in the
charger section of this manual.
Fuel Gauge Battery Packs (Fig. E)
Some D WALT battery packs include a fuel gauge which

consists of three green LED lights that indicate the level of
charge remaining in the battery pack.
To actuate the fuel gauge, press and hold the fuel gauge button
. A combination of the three green LED lights will illuminate

designating the level of charge left. When the level of charge
in the battery is below the usable limit, the fuel gauge will not
illuminate and the battery will need to be recharged.
nOTE: The fuel gauge is only an indication of the charge left on
the battery pack. It does not indicate tool functionality and is
subject to variation based on product components, temperature
and end-user application.
Variable Speed Trigger Switch (Fig. A, C)
To turn the tool on, squeeze the variable speed trigger
switch . To turn the tool off, release the variable speed

The trigger switch enables you to start the application at a slow
speed. The further you depress the trigger, the faster the tool
will operate.

WARNING: This tool has no provision to lock the switch
in the on position and should never be locked on by any
other means.
Lock-off Button
Your saw is equipped with a lock-off button
To lock the trigger switch 1 , press the lock-off button as shown
in Figure C. When the lock-off button is depressed to the lock
icon, the tool is locked. Always lock the trigger switch when
carrying or storing the tool to eliminate unintentional starting.
NOTICE: Use of very slow speed is recommended only for
beginning a cut. Prolonged use at very slow speed may
damage your saw.
OPERATION

Proper Hand Position (Fig. A, D)

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
ALWAYS use proper hand position as shown.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, ALWAYS hold securely in anticipation of a
sudden reaction.
Proper hand position requires one hand on the hand grip
with the other hand on the main handle
dependent upon user's preference.
Pivot Release Slider (Fig. C, F, G)

WARNING: To avoid tool being turned on accidentally,
make sure the lock-off button

WARNING: To avoid being pinched, keep hands away
from the hinge when changing positions.
The tool can be converted into three different positions. To
change positions, slide the pivot release slider
as shown in Figure F and rotate the handle portion of the tool
until it snaps securely into any of the three positions shown in
Figure G.
Blade Installation and Removal
(Fig. H, I1, I2, I3)
