purpose of training provided they are under the
supervision of a qualified instructor.
- Always use the chain saws with maximum care and
attention.
- Only use the chain saw when you are in good conditions.
If you are tired, your attention will decrease. Take special
care at the end of a working day. Carry out any work
calmly and carefully. The user shall have to accept
responsibility towards third persons.
- Never work under the influence of alcohol, drugs or
medicaments.
- When working in an easily inflammable vegetation or
when it should not have rained for a prolonged period of
time (forest fire hazard), a fire extinguisher must be
available nearby.
3.2 Protection equipment (Figs. 3 and 4)
To avoid injuries at your head, eyes, hands or feet as
well as to protect your ears, you must use the following
protection equipment when working with the chain
saw:
- The kind of clothing must be suitable, i.e. it must be tight-
fitting without being uncomfortable. Do not wear gems or
clothing that may get tangled up in bushes or shrubs. If
you wear long hair, always use a hair net!
- It is always necessary to wear a safety hard hat when
working with the chain saw. The hard hat (A) must be
checked at regular intervals to see if it is damaged, and
replaced by a new one after a maximum of 5 years. Use
only homologated safety hard hats.
- Face shield (B) of the safety hard hat (or safety goggles)
protects you from sawdust and splinters. During the use
of the chain saw, always use safety goggles or a face
shield to avoid suffering eye injuries.
- Use noise protection equipment (C) (earmuffs, ear
protectors, etc.).
- The safety jacket (D) consists of 22 nylon layers and
protects the operator from cuts. It must always be used
when one works from lifted platforms (platforms for
collecting fruit, elevators), from platforms mounted on
ladders or when climbing with ropes.
- The safety dungarees (E) are made of 22-layer nylon
fiber and protect against cuts. Use thereof is earnestly
recommended.
- The protective gloves (F) made of thick leather are part
of the required equipment and shall be used when using
the chain saw.
- When using the chain saw, safety shoes or safety boots
(G) with nonslip sole, steel toecap and leg protector shall
always be used. Safety shoes with a protective layer offer
protection against cuts and ensure good stability. For
working in trees, the safety boots shall have to be suitable
for climbing techniques.

3.3 Fuels/Refueling

- Stop the engine before refueling the chain saw.
- Do not smoke or work near fires (Fig. 5).
- Let the engine cool down before refueling.
- Fuels may contain substances similar to solvents. Eyes
and the skin shall not enter into contact with mineral oil
products. Always use protective gloves when refueling.
Wash and replace the protection clothing frequently. Do
not inhale fuel vapors.
- Do not splash fuel or chainsaw oil, clean the chain saw
immediately. Fuel must not enter into contact with

- Make sure that fuel or chainsaw oil is not allowed to filter
