Use
Turning on the electric hotplates
The rotary switch can be turned both clockwise (to gradually increase hotplate power,
from position 1 to position 6) and anticlockwise.
Any hotplate can also be switched on by passing directly from off (0) to maximum setting
(6).
Use of hotplate
For better efficiency and lower electric consumption, use pots of suitable width for the
hotplate. The pilot light will come on for all switch settings, except off "C".
Automatic hotplate protection
This safety device reduces the power of any hotplate left accidentally on without a pot.
The device intervenes to prevent excessive overheating of the hotplate and any
consequent possible damage to the hob.
Switching on the first time
You should heat the hotplate at maximum temperature for about 5-10 minutes, without a
pot, before using for the first time. During this initial phase, the oily protective coating
evaporates generating a small amount of smoke and an unpleasant smell.
Use of hob
Some fundamental precautions should be taken when cooking or preparing food to ensure
optimum hob performance.
- Use flat bottomed pots to ensure an even position on the hotplate.
- To fully exploit all the heat use pots with the same diameter as the hotplate.
- Always check that the base of pots and pans are clean and dry, to increase both hob
and utensil working life.
