Summary
The VLH 4440 is a 4-column lifting platform with
electro-hydraulic drive. Fig. 3 shows the principal
components.

4 Attachment points for sensors (special accessory)
5 Roll-off guard
6 Runway
7 Lifting column (secondary column)
8 Drive-on ramp with roll-off guard
9 Cross member
The lifting platform is provided with one control
column, three secondary columns and two runways.
The control column contains the operating unit (2) and
a hydraulic unit (3).
The columns are connected in pairs by cross members
(9). The runways (6) rest on the cross members. The
runway on the right can be moved sideways to adjust
the spacing between the runways.
When the lifting platform is lowered, a motor vehicle
can be driven onto the runways by way of the drive-on
ramp (8). Roll-off guards (5, 8) stop the vehicle rolling
off the runways.

Lifting mechanism
Fig. 4 shows the lifting mechanism of the lifting
platform.

1 Single pulleys
2 Single and quadruple pulleys
3 Hydraulic cylinder
4 Yoke
5 Pulley in cross member (4x)
A = Control column; B, C, D = Secondary columns
A hydraulic cylinder (3) with yoke (4) is located under
the left runway. Four suspension cables are routed via
pulleys from the yoke to the end plate of each lifting
column. The pulleys (1, 2) are located under the left
runway; the pulleys (5) are in the cross members.
The hydraulic cylinder can be retracted and extended
by way of the hydraulic unit at the control column.
When the lifting platform is lowered, the hydraulic
cylinder is fully extended.
As the hydraulic cylinder is retracted, the yoke pulls
on the lower end of the suspension cables, thus lifting
the pulleys (5) with the cross members. The cross
members are lowered again when the hydraulic cylinder
is extended.
