5 - First Time Use and Initial Precautions:
• Remove all contents from inside the cooker (check that
the working valve is not inside the box or the cooker).
• Read all instructions carefully before using, especially
"Basic Information" (p. 23).
• Carefully remove all stickers from the cooker body.
• Check that the working valve and working valve are clean.
• Apply a little cooking oil to the sealing ring and around
the upper edge of the cooker. This will make it easier to
open and close the lid (Figs. 9 and 10). This procedure
may be repeated each time you use the cooker.

Pressure Cooker with Starflon T1 nonstick exterior and interior finish:
• Products with Starflon T1 nonstick finish will last longer if the instructions below are
followed.
Before using:
• Wash the exterior and interior of the cooker using only a soft sponge and mild soap or
dishwashing liquid.
• Dry well with a dry cloth and grease the internal parts with oil or shortening.
• Place on low heat for one or two minutes without the lid.
• Allow the cooker to cool and then wash and dry again.
During use:
• Avoid heating up product when empty.
• Always use your Starflon T1 product on low or medium heat to retain the nutrients in
foods and to protect the nonstick finish.
• Avoid allowing flames to reach the sides of the product.
• Products with nonstick finish cannot be heated above 665ºF.
• Only use silicone, nylon, or wood utensils that will not cut or scratch the surface of
Starflon T1 products when stirring or removing foods from the product.
• Never cut food directly on the nonstick surface.

• Do not submerge hot product in cold water.
• Allow product to cool before washing.
• Never use abrasive products, such as scouring soap and steel wool, to wash product.
• In case of burnt food, let cooker soak in warm water before washing.
• When food is fully cooked, remove it and wash cooker immediately.
• Remove the sealing ring and wash it separately.
• To remove food residue stuck to the sides of the cooker, wash the cooker with warm water
and mild dishwashing liquid.
• It is especially important to wash the cooker after cooking acidic or very salty foods as

• To clean the inside of the cooker, use a mild abrasive such as a scouring liquid cleanser;
• To remove food stuck to the inside of the cooker, wash it with hot water and mild soap or
dishwashing liquid;
Pressure cooker with silicone exterior coating (painted):
Before Use:
• Wash the exterior and interior of the pressure cooker using only a soft sponge and mild
soap or dishwashing liquid. Dry thoroughly with a cloth.
Cleaning:
• Avoid heating up product when empty.
• Utensils with silicone exterior coating cannot be heated above 220ºC / 428ºF;
• When food is fully cooked, remove it and wash the pressure cooker immediately.
• Remove the sealing ring and wash it separately;
• It is especially important to wash the pressure cooker after cooking acidic or very salty
foods as they can damage the cooker. Wash the surface with water and mild soap;
• Do not allow fatty products to run on the utensil's exterior as they can leave stains;
• To clean the inside of the cooker, use a mild abrasive such as a scouring liquid cleanser;
• To remove food stuck to the inside of the cooker, wash it with hot water and mild soap or
dishwashing liquid;
• Avoid allowing flames to reach the sides of the product.
