The drill drive is precisely guided by the adjustable dovetail guide with wear-resistant brass guide rails.
A smooth, even feed is thus guaranteed. The drill feed is carried out manually via the handle bars.
Use of the magnetic drilling machine F40
The magnetic drilling units are designed for drilling, reaming and tapping (on machines without clock-
wise/anticlockwise rotation only with deflection adapter), on work pieces with magnetic properties for
any working position, horizontal, vertical and overhead. The mounting surface on the work piece for
the electromagnets should be flat, but can be unmachined. Loose rust and scale as well as paint and
filler layers must be removed. When drilling material thicknesses of less than 12.0 mm, a steel plate of
appropriate thickness should be placed under the work piece to be machined so that the electromagnet
can better develop its magnetic holding force. Never place the switched on magnetic drilling unit on
insulating materials (e.g. wood, concrete, etc.). The insufficient heat dissipation can lead to overheating
and destruction of the electromagnets. Always remember that the magnetic force is not maintained in the
event of a mains interruption (power cut, pulling the mains plug).
The magnetic drilling units must not be used on work pieces while arc welding is in progress. The welding
current could damage the machine. The magnetic drilling units are always equipped with a self-starting
lock. The automatic start interlock ensures that only the electromagnet is energised when the red
rocker-type switch is switched on. The drill drive only gets power when the green combination switch
is pressed. Only now does the drill drive start up. If the voltage is interrupted, e.g. due to a defect in the
supply line or by actuating the red rocker-type switch, the drill drive remains voltage-free even after the
voltage returns or after the red rocker-type switch is switched on again.
Before commissioning
Carefully read and observe the operating instructions and safety notes! Correctly establish the
electrical device connection. Note the rated voltage on the type plate! If you want to use an extension
cable, it must be designed for the application and the rated power input of the drilling unit! Caution:
When drilling horizontally and vertically upwards, the magnetic drill stand must be secured with the sup-
plied safety belt in accordance with the accident prevention regulations of the trade associations.
A corresponding belt guide is provided on the drill stands. The drill drive can be adjusted in height with
the Allen wrench (SW6). The set screw is located on the back of the gearbox housing.
Commissioning
Align the drill tip with the grained drill point. Switch on the magnetic drill stand on the red rocker-type
switch "ON". The magnetic drill unit sticks to the work piece through the magnetic field that builds up.
Before the drilling process check whether the magnetic drilling unit is stuck safely. Magnetic drilling
units with fine positioning (recognisable by the clamping lever or in the description of the technical data)
enable the drill tip to be aligned exactly to the drilling point - even when the electromagnets are switched
on. For this purpose release the clamping lever of the fine positioning. The drill stand can now be pivoted
and moved on the electromagnet. After completion of the set-up procedure, the clamping lever is locked
again and the set position is fixed. For multi-stage gear designs, select the speed range of the drill drive
according to the tool to be used.
Caution! Only switch over the speed when the drilling drive is at a standstill! The gear stages are identi-
