Operation
Starting Operation
Inserting the Battery
Use only original Bosch lithium ion batter-
ies with the voltage listed on the nameplate
of your power tool. Using other batteries can
lead to injuries and pose a fire hazard.
Note: Use of batteries not suitable for the ma-
chine can lead to malfunctions of or cause dam-
age to the power tool.
Insert the charged battery 2 into the handle until
it can be felt to engage and faces flush against
the handle.
Switching On and Off
To switch on the power tool, push the On/Off
switch 5 toward the front in the direction of the
"1" on the switch.
To switch off the power tool, push the On/Off
switch 5 toward the rear in the direction of the
"0" on the switch.
The lithium ion battery is protected against
deep discharging by the "Electronic Cell Protec-
tion (ECP)". When the battery is empty, the ma-
chine is switched off by means of a protective
circuit: The inserted tool no longer rotates.
Note: If the machine should automatically
switch off because of a discharged or overheat-
ed battery, make sure to set the machine's
On/Off switch 5 to off. Charge the battery and
allow it to cool down before restarting the ma-
chine. Otherwise the battery can become dam-
aged.
Preselecting the Orbital Stroke Rate
With the thumbwheel for preselection of the or-
bital stroke rate 3, you can preselect the required
orbital stroke rate, even during operation.
The required stroke rate depends on the materi-
al and the working conditions and can be deter-
mined through practical testing.
When sawing and cutting harder materials, e.g.,
wood or metal, it is recommended to work with
orbital stroke rate "5" or "E"; for softer materi-
als, such as plastic, orbital stroke rate "4" is rec-
ommended.

When sanding harder materials, e.g., wood or
metal, it is recommended to work with orbital
stroke rate "5"; for softer materials, such as soft-
wood, orbital stroke rate "4" is recommended.
The Eco electronics are active at the maximum
orbital stroke rate "E": When the application
tool is not subject to load, the orbital stroke rate
is automatically reduced (after approx. 1 s). The
reduction extends the battery operating dura-
tion per charge, and the reduced vibrations en-
able precise applying of the application tool on-
to the workpiece. As soon as load is applied to
the application tool again, the machine automat-
ically accelerates to the maximum orbital stroke
rate.
The Eco electronics, however, are not suitable
for sanding activities. Instead, orbital stroke
rate "5", which has the same oscillation rate as
setting "E" yet without the Eco electronics, is
suitable for sanding.
Working Advice
Note: Do not cover off the venting slots 6 of the
machine while working, as this reduces the
working life of the machine.
While working with HCS tools make sure that
the covering of the tools is undamaged.
Operating Principle
Due to the oscillating drive the application
tool/accessory swings up to 20000 times per
minute for 2.8°. This allows for precise work in
narrow spaces.
Work with low and uniform appli-
cation pressure, otherwise, the
working performance will decline
and the application tool can be-
come blocked.
While working, move the machine
back and forth, so that the appli-
cation tool does not heat up ex-
cessively and become blocked.
