14 Checking the Controls

When switching the hedge trimmer on:
► Make sure you have a secure and firm footing.
► Stand upright.
► Always hold and operate the hedge trimmer with one hand
firmly on the rear or control handle and the other hand
firmly on the front or loop handle.
To switch the hedge trimmer on:

► Insert the activation key.
► Depress and hold the switch lever (1).
► Unlock the retaining latch (2) by pushing it forward with
your thumb. Hold it in this unlocked position.
► Depress and hold the trigger switch lockout (3).
The retaining latch can be released and will stay in the
unlocked position.
► Squeeze the trigger switch (4) with your index finger.
The cutting blades will start moving.
The motor will not switch on unless the retaining latch is
unlocked and the switch lever, trigger switch lockout and
trigger switch are pressed at the same time.

13.2 Switching Off

WARNING
The cutting blades continue to move for a short while after
the trigger switch or switch lever is released. To avoid
serious or fatal injury, avoid contact with the moving cutting
blades. To reduce the risk of personal injury from

unintended activation or unauthorized use, switch off the
motor, ensure the cutting blades have stopped and remove
the activation key before transporting or putting the hedge
trimmer down.
To switch the hedge trimmer off:
► Release the trigger switch and trigger switch lockout.
Once the trigger switch and trigger switch lockout have
been released, the retaining latch will return to its locked
position and activation of the trigger switch will be
blocked.

14.1 Testing the Controls

Before starting work, confirm that the switch lever (1),
retaining latch (2), trigger switch lockout (3) and trigger
switch (4) are undamaged and functioning properly:

Switch (4)
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries, keep hands,
feet and other parts of the body away from the cutting
blades. Do not touch the cutting blades while the activation
