In case of a problem with this unit, check the following list first. If you cannot solve your problem with the suggested
solutions or if your problem is not listed below, turn off and unplug this unit, and consult the nearest authorized Yamaha
dealer or service center.

General

Problem
Power turns on but
immediately shuts off.
The speakers make no
sound.
Sound suddenly turns off.
Sound is too low on one
side.
This unit does not operate
properly.
A digital or high-frequency
equipment produces noises.
Sound played on this unit
cannot be recorded with an
external recorder.
The clock setting has been
cleared.

Troubleshooting

Cause
The power cable may be connected
improperly.
The speaker cable may be short-
circuited.
This unit may have received a strong
electrical shock such as lightning or
excessive static electricity.
The volume may be set to minimum
level.
The mute function may be on.
The input source may be incorrect.
The cables may be connected
improperly.
The disc loaded into this unit may not
be compatible.
The sleep timer (see page 30) may be
set.
The cables may be connected
improperly.
This unit may have received a strong
electrical shock such as lightning or
excessive static electricity, or power
supply may have dropped.
This unit may be placed close to the
digital or high-frequency equipment.
You may be trying to make a digital
recording from an analog source.
The power to this unit may have been
lost for more than 4 minutes.
Solution
Make sure the power cable is plugged
into the outlet firmly (see page 14).
Make sure all speaker cables are
connected properly (see page 10).
Set this unit to the standby mode, and
disconnect the power cable. Wait about
30 seconds, reconnect the power cable,
and turn on this unit.
Adjust the volume level (see page 16).
Cancel the mute function (see page 16).
Select the correct input source (see
page 16).
Make sure all speaker cables are
connected properly (see page 9).
Use a disc supported by this unit (see
page 38).
Turn on this unit and play the source
again.
Make sure all speaker cables are
connected properly (see page 9) and
sounds are properly adjusted (see
page 34).
Set this unit to the standby mode, and
disconnect the power cable. Wait about
30 seconds, connect the power cable,
and turn on this unit.
Place this unit away from the
equipment.
Use a proper audio source.
Plug the power cable into the outlet
firmly, and set the clock again (see
page 15).
