Connecting
• Before charging and trickle charging a battery
permanently connected to a vehicle, first dis-
connect the battery negative terminal from the
vehicle.
• Then disconnect the battery positive terminal
from the vehicle.
• Only then connect the battery charger positive
(red) clamp (5) to the positive (+) terminal of
the battery.
• Lastly connect the battery charger negative
(black) clamp (4) to the negative (-) terminal of
the battery.
Note: If the connector clamps are correctly connec-
ted, the display (6) will show the voltage and the
"Connected" indicator light will light up.
If the poles are accidently reversed, the display (6)
will read "0.0" and the "+/- Error" indicator will
light up to signal a polarity error.
Disconnecting
• First disconnect the battery charger from the
mains power.
• Remove the negative (black) clamp (4) from the
battery terminal.
• Remove the positive (red) clamp (5) from the
battery terminal.
• Reconnect the positive terminal of the battery
to the vehicle's positive connection.
• Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery
to the vehicle's negative connection.
Selecting the charging mode
You may charge a variety of batteries at different
ambient temperatures using the different charging
modes. The safe charging process protects against
faulty connection and short-circuits. The integrated
electronics do not switch the battery charger on
immediately after the connection is made, but only
after a charging mode has been selected.
• In case the "+/- Error" indicator lights up, verify
if the terminal clamps (4 & 5) are correctly con-
nected to the battery and if the correct battery
type has been selected on the charger.
DISPLAY button (1)
Press this button to cycle between different display
modes. The selected display mode is indicated by
the lights next to the button. The following modes
are available:
• Battery %: display shows the current state of
charge of the connected battery, ranging from
0% (no charge) to 100% (full charge)
• Voltage: display shows the voltage of the con-
nected battery
• Alternator %: display shows charger output po-
wer, ranging from 0% (off) to 100% (full power)
BATTERY TYPE button (2)
Press this button to cycle between different battery
types.
Take care to select the correct battery type
before starting the charging process. The
currently selected battery type is indicated
by the lights next to the BATTERY TYPE
button (2).
The following battery types are supported:
• 12V Regular
• 12V Deep cycle
• 12V Gel / AGM
• 6V Regular
Note: After connecting the charger it will automa-
tically determine the battery voltage. If the charger
incorrectly detects a 12V battery as a 6V battery, it
means the battery is faulty and/or over-discharged.
Faulty batteries should be replaced, do not attempt
to charge a faulty battery.
MODE button (3)
Press this button to cycle between different opera-
ting modes. The following modes may be selected:
• Fast charge: Quickly charges the battery. Recom-
mended setting for low ambient temperatures.
• Normal charge: Normal charging process.
• Start: Briefly delivers a high current to jump
start a vehicle with a weak or drained battery.
Using the jump start mode
Note: The jump start mode can only be exited by
unplugging the power cord (7).
