OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The telemetric system serves to measure CSF
pressure readings whose relative, time-depen-
dent changes and characteristics may allow
conclusions as to the function of an implanted
ventricular drainage system. Diagnostic me-
thods can be used to initiate a pressure change
in the shunt system, which can then be inter-
preted.

Reader Unit Set for SENSOR RESERVOIR
With the reader unit set, measured data from the
measuring cell in the SENSOR RESERVOIR /
SENSOR PRECHAMBER can be read and dis-
played. Measured data are automatically sto-
red on the SD card and can thus be evaluated
at a later stage. The relative behaviour of the
CSF pressure in the shunt system can provide
information about its function. This permits the
non-invasive detection and localisation of an
occlusion within the shunt system and also of
a mechanical loss of function
