UNDERSTANDING THE CONTROL BOARD
This P.I.D. (proportional-integral-derivative) digital Control Board is very much the same as the controls on your kitchen oven. The
main advantages are the ability to automatically compensate for the different ambient conditions and fuel types.
IMPORTANT: The temperature inside of any grill will vary greatly from location to location. Even instruments
calibrated together may not agree with each other.
CONTROL
DESCRIPTION
Press and hold for three seconds to Power On the unit. This will begin the automatic start-up cycle.
Press and hold this button for 3 seconds to Power-down the unit, activating the automatic cool-down
cycle. A blue light will turn on behind the Power Button when connected to a power source and when
the unit is on.
The Controller Knob is used to navigate, increase, decrease, select, and set values. The Controller Knob
can move like a joystick or rotate to adjust values on the Main Screen. In subscreens rotate the wheel
or use the joystick to scroll through options. Push the Controller Knob to confirm the chosen value or
selection. The selection will blink blue where the control knob is currently located until a selection is
made. It will be highlighted white once the selection is confirmed.
The Setting options under this screen:
• Display: Select the brightness of the display or select the temperature scale. Fahrenheit (ºF) is the
• Screen Saver: The default is None. Select 1 Min, 3 Min, or 5 Min to choose when the display will go
• Start-Up: OFF is the default and will automatically heat the unit to 180°F. Move the Control Knob

The Menu options: Hold Prime, 3 Seconds Prime, or 5 Seconds Prime. Selecting the Hold option will
continuously feed pellets from the auger, 30 seconds maximum. Press it again to stop the auger feed.
The timed selections will prime automatically for that period.
