Mounting:
What you will need:
A power drill with HSS drill 20 mm and screwdriver.
The mounting procedure described below can be carried out by the customer if the instructions are
followed accurately. No electrician is required.
1. Drill a hole with a diameter of approx. 20 mm into the surface where you plan to mount
the light socket (5). The surface should be heat resistant and non-flammable.
2. Disconnect the quick coupling (7) between the lamp socket and the ballast. To do this,
slightly lift one end of the locking mechanism with a small screwdriver and pull the two
coupling pieces apart.
3. Loosen the slotted washer from the threaded tube.
4. Insert the cable with the quick coupling, strain relief, loose nut and threaded tube
through the pre-drilled hole from the inside until it is closed off by the large washer
that remains. Now push the slotted washer beneath the strain relief along the cable
again and secure it with the hexagon nut.
5. Use two screws to mount the ballast (1) on a non-flammable, sturdy base near the light
socket mounted according to points 1 – 5. Make sure it is close enough to the light
socket so that the special cable (6) will not be kinked or pulled.
6. Setting the wattage. Use the selector switch (2) on the side of the unit to set the
wattage of the lamp. 35 W, 50 W or 70 W. Make sure that the setting corresponds to
the lamp used! An incorrect setting will result in a defective lamp.
7. Now connect the quick coupling (7) between the light socket and the ballast by
plugging the two coupling pieces together until the locking mechanism snaps into
place.
Screw a metal halide lamp such as JBL ReptilDesert L-U-W Light or JBL ReptilJungle

L-U-W Light into the lamp socket (5). Make sure to hold the lamp socket with the other
hand to prevent it from twisting.
9. Make sure that the setting of the selector switch (2) corresponds to the lamp used.
10. Connect the mains lead (3) to the power supply.
