Giant Cinnamon Sticky Buns

OUGH
3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 pkg. (1/4 oz.) rapid-rise
(not bread machine) yeast
3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup milk
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine,
cut into pieces

1. Insert beaters into mixer head. Adjust turntable to fit large mixer bowl. To make
the dough, in the large mixer bowl, combine 1 cup flour, the yeast, sugar and salt.
In a small saucepan, heat water, milk and butter to 120-130ºF.
2. With mixer at Speed 1, gradually add warmed milk mixture to the dry ingredients.
Increase mixer to Speed 6 and mix 2 minutes until smooth. Stop mixer. Add the
egg and 1 cup flour and beat at Speed 6, scraping bowl occasionally, 2 minutes
longer. On Speed 1 stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough.
3. Remove beaters and insert dough hooks. On Speed 6, beat mixture 3-5 minutes
or until dough is smooth and elastic. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let rest
15 minutes.
4. While dough is resting, make the filling and topping: In a small saucepan, over
medium heat, heat 4 Tbsp. butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar and the corn syrup,
stirring until the sugar dissolves. Pour mixture into a greased 9-inch square
baking pan; sprinkle pecans over sugar mixture in pan.
5. On a clean, lightly floured surface, roll dough to an 8-inch x 20-inch rectangle.
Melt remaining 2 Tbsp. butter and brush over dough. In the small mixer bowl,
combine remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar with the cinnamon; sprinkle generously
over the dough. Starting from a short end, roll up dough, jellyroll-fashion,
pinching ends to seal. Cut into 4 pieces.
6. Place pieces cut-side up in prepared pan with filling. Loosely cover with clean
towel and let rise in a warm place, about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
7. Bake 30-35 minutes until, covering pan with foil during last 10 minutes, if top
is browning too much. Cool in pan 5 minutes, then invert onto serving plate.
Pull apart to serve.
