 The room must also allow the necessary entry of air for proper
combustion. The airflow for combustion purposes should not
be less than 2 m³/h per kW of installed capacity. The air supply
can be made through a direct entry from the outside through a
conduit with an internal cross section of at least 125 cm2,
which must be carefully placed to avoid accidental blockage.
Gas hob without safety devices must have a ventilation
opening twice as large as the one mentioned below (Fig.3).
Otherwise, the room must be ventilated indirectly through
adjacent rooms with ventilation conduits to the outside as
described below, as long as these adjacent rooms are not
shared areas, bedrooms or fire hazards (Fig. 4).
 Intensive and prolonged use of the gas hob may require
additional ventilation, e.g. opening windows or increasing the
power of the air intake system.
 Liquefied petroleum gases are heavier than air, so they will be
located at the bottom. The rooms where LPG tanks are
installed shall have ventilation openings to the outside; this, in
order to allow the gas to escape in case of a leak. Similarly,
LPG tanks, even if empty or half-full, must not be installed or
stored in rooms or spaces below ground level (basements,
etc.). Also, keep only the tank that is being used in the room,
and make sure that it is not near heat sources (ovens,
chimneys, stoves, etc.) that can increase its internal
temperature to more than 50ºC.
