Safety Precautions
Safety Guideline for users of the VFS120
Read the user manual carefully before use.
Do not overload the capacity of the scale or the forklift.
The forklift will have a certain capacity loss after installation of the VFS120. Please
be aware of the newly rated capacity. If it is necessary to revise the forklift name
plate after installing the VFS120, please contact the forklift manufacturer directly.
It is necessary to regularly check the key components of the scale as listed
below:
1. The bottom clamp
Regularly inspect to ensure that the clamp is not loose. If it becomes loose, it
could cause the scale to drop as well as causing a significant hazard.
2. The locating tab
Regularly inspect to ensure that the bolts are properly fastened. If they become
loose, the scale could slip on the forklift and drop down.
3. The flexures
Regularly inspect to ensure that the flexures connect the front and back frame.
If one of them is damaged or deformed, it must be immediately replaced by
a new one, otherwise the accuracy will be out of tolerance, and could cause
accidents.
4. The hook on the back carriage
Regularly inspect to check for any cracks in the welding. If a crack is found,
the scale should be immediately removed from the forklift.
5. The loadcell
Regularly inspect to check for any cracks or deformation on the loadcell and
its connecting bolts.
Note: please refer to 'Product Configuration' chapter.
Do not use the scale for any propose other than weighing.
Do not push, pull, or drag objects with the scale.
Do not alter the scale by drilling, welding or by any other means without
consulting Mettler-Toledo.
After the scale is installed on the forklift, all standard regulations for safe
forklift use should be followed.
