Belt grinder GI 150/GI1502H:
➤ Mount the belt grinder onto a corresponding GIB/
GIBE undercarriage/base unit. Check if the belt
grinder is securely fastened. (see figure 1)
➤ Pay attention that the belt grinder is set-up/aligned
horizontally.
Dismount the following components from the belt
grinder: (see figure 2)
– Top protective cover (1) with spark guard (2)
– Side cover (7)
– Grinding rest (3)
– Dust collector (4)
– Face-grinding rest (5)
– Grinding belt
– Plate with threads (6)
Grinding device GIL.
➤ Take the device out of the packaging and check the
individual parts for completeness.
➤ Mount the fixture (23) with one of the two remain-
ing screws of the plate with the threads to the left-
hand, rear drill hole of the belt grinder. Pay attention
that the thread hole faces upwards. (see figure 3)
➤ Position the device to the left of the belt grinder in
such a manner, that the rear edges of the belt grinder
and the device are flush. Slide the device to the right
until the bolt in the back fits the hole in the back.
➤ Insert the bolt (21) through the drill hole. The bolt
must engage into the thread hole.
➤ Screw the bolt (21) into the fixture (23) until the
right-hand side wall of the belt grinder and the
device are parallel to each other. Check the parallel-
ism with a rule.
➤ Mount the device to the belt grinder with the
screws (26).
➤ Check the parallelism again and correct if required.
➤ Mount the grinding belt (see GI150/GI1502H Oper-
ating Instructions).
➤ Mount the dust collector (4), the side cover (24) and
the cover (13).
Electrical connection.
The electrical connection, which is to be provided
by customer, must be carried out by a qualified
electrician.
Observe mains voltage: The mains voltage and the fre-
quency of the power source must agree with the data on
the type plate of the machine.
Before starting operation for the first time, check the
rotation direction of the motor. The rotation direction
may be changed only by a qualified electrician.
Connect the device to the socket outlet of the belt
grinder.
Operating instructions.
Switching ON:
➤ Set the On/Off switch (15) to the "I" position.
Switching OFF:
➤ Set the On/Off switch (15) to the "0" position.
After switching off, the machine runs on for
approx. 50 seconds.
Adjustments.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug of the belt grinder from the socket outlet.
➤ Open the side cover (23).
➤ Move the grinding belt manually in the direction of
rotation and check if the grinding belt runs equality
on all three rollers.
➤ If required, adjust the tracking of the belt with adjust-
ment screw (19). Loosen screw (18) under adjust-
ment.
➤ Close the side cover.
Face grinding.
➤ Loosen the clamping levers (11) and adjust the guide
stops (12) to the work piece thickness.
➤ Tighten the clamping levers (11) again.
➤ Loosen both clamping levers (29) and adjust the
work piece thickness via the scale (9) using the
crank (8). Tighten both clamping levers again.
➤ Lower the contact wheel (16) with the star-knob
bolt (28).
➤ Switch on the belt grinder and the grinding device.
Adjust the tracking on the belt grinder until the
grinding belt runs centred on the top contact wheel
(see GI150/GI1502H Operating Instructions).
➤ Guide the work piece into the grinding device until
it makes contact with the brake wheel (20).
➤ Adjust the contact wheel (16) upward with the star-
knob bolt (28) until the grinding belt touches the
work piece.
➤ Allow the work piece to run through the grinding
device and then check the grinding pattern.
➤ Adjust the feed pressure of the brake wheel with the
star-knob bolt (10) as required.
➤ If required, correct the height adjustment of the
brake wheel and the contact wheel.
If the work piece is not being ground uniformly,
the parallelism of the brake wheel must be cor-
rected with adjustment screw (14) and the inclina-
tion of the contact wheel with adjustment
screw (17). Loosen screw (18) under adjustment.
Contact grinding.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug of the belt grinder from the socket outlet.
➤ Adjust the work piece thickness with the crank to
the maximum value (5 mm).
➤ Dismount the cover (13).
➤ Mount the grinding rest (3) and adjust the correct
gap dimension (see GI150 Operating Instructions).
➤ Mount the spark guard (2).
Changing the grinding belt.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug of the belt grinder from the socket outlet.
➤ Lower the contact wheel (16) with the star-knob
bolt (28).
➤ Replace the grinding belt (see GI150 Operating
Instructions).
