Preparing the Lawn Mower for Operation
The following steps must be performed before commencing
work:
► Remove packaging material and transport locks.
► Make sure that the following components are in safe
condition:
– Lawn mower, @ 4.6.1.
– Blade, @ 4.6.2.
– Battery, @ 4.6.3.

► Check the battery, @ 13.3.
► Fully charge the battery, @ 6.1.
► Clean the lawn mower, @ 18.2.
► Check the blade, @ 13.2.
► Attach the handlebar, @ 7.1.
► Fold up and adjust the handlebar, @ 8.1.
► If mowing and the grass is to be collected in the grass
catcher box:
► Detach the guide, @ 7.3.2.
► Remove the mulch insert, @ 7.3.2.
► Attach the grass catcher box, @ 7.2.1.
► If mowing and the grass is to be directed to the ground
from the side:
► Remove the mulch insert, @ 7.3.2.
► Detach the grass catcher box, @ 7.2.2.
► Attach the guide, @ 7.4.1.
► If mulching:
► Detach the guide, @ 7.4.2.
► Detach the grass catcher box, @ 7.2.2.
► Attach the mulch insert, @ 7.3.1.
► Set the cutting height, @ 14.2.
► Check the controls, @ 13.1.
► If the steps cannot be performed: do not use the lawn
mower and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
6 Charging the Battery, LEDs
6.1
Charging the Battery
The charging time depends on various influencing factors
such as the temperature of the battery and the ambient
temperature. For optimum performance, note the
recommended temperature ranges, @ 22.5. The actual
charging time may differ from the specified charging time.

► Charge the battery as described in the instruction manual
for the STIHL AL 101, 301, 500 charger.
