It is recommended that re-sharpening of
the blade be performed by at a specialised
service station. We also recommend that
after sharpening your dealer carry out
measurements to check for imbalance.
The blade cutting edges may only be ground
until the value (see the sketch &) or the
mark on the blade (ring), has been
reached.
– Only use original SABO blades for replacement
purposes (part nr. 15166).
– Blades must be marked permanently with name
and/or trademark of the manufacturer or supplier
and with the parts number. Blades may only be
fitted according to hte appropriate operating
instructions of the respective mower.
– Reassemble in reverse order.
– Tighten the blade fixing screw with a dynamo-
metric wrench to 40 – 45 Nm. Do not use an
impact screwdriver. Make sure that the
last clutch lining and the pressure washer lay
congruent on top of one another.
ATTENTION
W
Do not leave any tools in the mower!
Before starting the mower check that all
tools have been removed!
Servicing the wheels
Grease the bearings of the wheels once a year or
every 20 operating hours.
– Release the hexagon nuts using a socket spanner
and remove the wheels.
– After dribbling oil into the bearings, push on the
wheels and tighten so that they can still be turned
easily.
11. Servicing the engine
The prescribed maintenance and service work must
be performed on a regular basis to ensure long and
fault-free life of the engine.
Always keep the exterior of the engine clean. Never
clean the mower with water since this may damage
the ignition system and carburettor.
Perfect cooling of the engine will only be guaran-
teed if the cylinder fins and inside surfaces are
always kept clean.
Oil change /
The first oil change of a new engine is necessary
after 5 operating hours, and thereafter every
50 hours of operation or at least once per mowing
season.
– To change the oil remove the dipstick from the
filler and lay the mower on its side so that the used
oil drains into the catch tray.
– Turn the mower upright and fill approximately 0.5 l
quality oil (See Technical Data) through the filler.
Screw on dipstick and check oil level 8!
Cleaning and replacing the air filter (
– Loosen the screw on the air filter cover and open
the cover downwards.
22
– Carefully remove the filter insert and top out on a
smooth surface or replace if very dirty.
– Never oil the insert or blow out with compressed
air. Very dirty or oily filter inserts must be replaced
(air filter insert: order no. 26547).
– Replace the filter element in housing after
cleaning or replacing and carefully replace
cover.
Under unfavourable work conditions (excessive
dust) it will be necessary to clean during mowing
or every 3 months or after 25 hours of operation.
Checking the spark plug )
To check for wear, remove the spark plug connector
and unscrew the spark plug. If the electrode is
worn badly the spark plug must be replaced.
Otherwise it will be sufficient to clean the spark
plug with a steel brush and to set the electrode
distance to 0.75 mm (spark plug order nr. 16815).
Screw in the spark plug (pay attention to sealing
ring) into the engine by hand and tighten using
the set screw wrench. Press on spark plug
connector.
Correct storage of the engine
(when not used for a long period of time)
– Let the engine run warm.
– Empty the petrol tank or allow the engine to run
until it stops due to lack of fuel
– Drain oil
– Unscrew the spark plug and fill approx.
two tablespoons motor oil into the
cylinder.
– Ignite the engine using the starter several
times so that the oil is distributed evenly in
the cylinder.
– Replace the spark plug.
– Pull through the starter slowly until the
pressure point is felt: the engine is now
under compression, the valves are closed, the
combustion chamber is protected against
moisture.
