W A R N I N G
Personal injury hazard. Never remove covers from the instrument. This
is a laser-based instrument and the user risks injury if exposed to the
laser.
N O T I C E
The laser diode is extremely sensitive to static charges and out of tolerance
voltage variations. Never make or remove any connections with the line power
applied to the counter. The counter provides power ±15 VDC to the sensor.
N O T I C E
Do not put the sensor in an area where it is susceptible to electronic noise and
mechanical vibration because this will damage the sensor.
Make sure that the sensor is adjacent to the particle counter at a
distance less than the length of the interconnecting
communication/electrical cable. Make sure that the sensor is adjacent to
each of the associated liquid sampling and/or handling equipment so
that the tubing length is kept to a minimum. Sufficient access for
operation, maintenance and testing must be provided.
Make sure to use the external equipment documentation for the correct
mechanical and electrical procedures for those devices. If necessary,
contact the manufacturer or sales representative to resolve any
questions of compatibility or suitability of this product for a specific
application.

Install the sensor

The sensor has a flow direction indicator. Make sure that the flow
direction on the sensor is monitored during installation
on page 6).
1. Remove the two shipping plugs from the microcell.
Note: To prevent contamination, install the shipping caps when the sensor is
not connected to the system.
2. Connect the sensor adapter fitting from the sample source to the
sensor inlet port
(Figure 1
on page 5).
3. Connect the sensor outlet port
the flow meter tubing inlet
(Figure 2
(Figure 2
(Figure 1
on page 5) to the drain or to
on page 6).
4. Make sure to flush the cell and sample lines completely with clean,
particle-free water immediately after making the cell connections.
Make sure that there are no leaks in the sampling system to obtain
accurate samples.
5. Make sure that all fittings are properly connected and leak-free. Do
not over-tighten any fittings. Finger-tighten, then an additional ¼-turn.

Connect power to the sensor

D A N G E R
Electrocution hazard. Always remove power to the instrument before
making electrical connections.
1. Set the counter power to off.
2. Connect the sensor cable connector to the sensor connector on the
particle counter. The sensor is ready to use.
3. Set the counter power to on.

Operation

D A N G E R
Fire/explosion hazard. Do not use the instrument with samples or
liquids that have an ignition point below 90 °C (194 °F).
W A R N I N G
Personal injury hazard. Never remove covers from the instrument. This
is a laser-based instrument and the user risks injury if exposed to the
laser.
