Intended use
Dräger Flame 5000 is intended for use in an area which may contain potentially
explosive atmosphere to detect a flame or fire. Dräger Flame 5000 can be used
as a flame detector only, or video surveillance camera or as a combined unit. It
can be used to monitor and trigger the necessary control actions upon the
detection of fire or flame in a given environment.

Limitations on use
● The Dräger Flame 5000 is not approved for use in oxygen-enriched
atmospheres.
15˚
● As the Dräger Flame 5000 responds to visible flames, the
30˚
Dräger Flame 5000 should not be installed where its operational position
45˚
embraces open flames, e.g. directly pointed at the flare stacks.
● Some fuels burn with an invisible flame which the Dräger Flame 5000
cannot detect (e.g. smoke, dense fog and other airborne particulates). The
performance of the Dräger Flame 5000 may be affected.
● The Dräger Flame 5000 is insensitive to arc welding with respect to
spurious trips. However, close proximity arc welding (e.g. within 1 m)
generates too much brightness for the Dräger Flame 5000 to operate within
specification.
● If the device is required to comply with EN54-10 and VdS, the optical fault
must be disabled for applications where total darkness is experienced.
