10. PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS

To screw or unscrew the microphone into position use only your hands (no
tools). Do not do it while the SC-20e is turned on.

The microphone should never be taken apart as this can damage it
permanently.

Keep the microphone away from dust and sharp objects.

Avoid excessive humidity or sudden changes in temperature, which may
produce condensation on the microphone.

Remove the protection grid of the microphone only if it is strictly necessary. Do
not touch the diaphragm. If the diaphragm is very dirty, remove the dust very
carefully with a thin camel hair paintbrush.

The microphone will record any knock on the SC-20e and this may alter the
measurement.

When the SC-20e is subject to vibrations, it is advisable to isolate it. The use of
foam cushions or similar materials is adequate.

When measurements are taken outside, the windscreen supplied with the SC-
20e should be fitted to the microphone since the wind can produce a loud noise.
If the SC-20e is held in the operator's hand when a measurement is being

taken, his arm should be outstretched. To avoid interferences, we recommend
the use of the tripod TR-40 and the extension cable CNR-010.

It is advisable to calibrate the SC-20e before and after each measurement is
taken. Use the acoustic calibrator CB006.

To manipulate the equipment (remove the preamplifier, microphone, ...), this
must be turned off and unplugged from the power supplies.

In the event that the SC-20e is not going to be used over a long period of time,
remove the battery.

