OPERATION
1. In order to drive holes into the workpiece as required,
first set up the dowelling jointer according to the 'Set
Up' instructions (above)
2. Hold the body of the machine with one hand so that
your thumb rests on the On/Off Switch
3. Align the guides on the Plexiglass Viewer (2) with the
guides on the workpiece and position the dowelling
jointer in readiness to drive the holes
4. Press the machine firmly against the workpiece so that
the Front Face (10) and the underside of the Fence (1)
are both fully in contact with the workpiece
5. Press down on the front of the fence with the fingers of
your other hand to hold the machine in position
6. In one smooth movement, slide your thumb down and
forward to activate the motor and push the body of the
machine forward so that the drill bits penetrate the
workpiece
7. Push the body of the machine forward as far as it
will go, until arrested by the depth stop on the Depth
Adjustment Guide (7)
8. Retain pressure on the fence with your fingers to keep
the machine in position, but release pressure from the
On/Off switch and the body of the machine
9. NOTE: Due to the spring-loaded action, the body
will automatically move back to the rest position,
withdrawing the drill bits from the workpiece
10. Once the drill bits are clear of the workpiece and
have stopped rotating, move your hand from the fence
to the Handle (3) and lift the machine away from the
workpiece
SERVICE & MAINTENANCE
WARNING! Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and the plug is removed from
the power point before making any adjustments or
carrying out maintenance
• Any damage to this tool should be repaired and
carefully inspected before use, by qualified repair
personnel
• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained
GENERAL INSPECTION
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They
may vibrate loose over time.
MAKING 90° jOINTS
• In order to drill the
corresponding holes in
the face of the joining
workpiece, the machine
needs to be positioned
perpendicular to that
face
• It is recommended
that you work with the
machine bearing down
on the workpiece, so that the weight of the machine
works with the direction of operation, in preference
to attempting to drive holes upwards from below the
workpiece
POWER CORD MAINTENANCE
If the supply cord needs replacing, the task must be
carried out by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's
agent, or an authorised service centre in order to avoid a
safety hazard.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
• The carbon brushes are a consumable item which
should be inspected periodically and replaced when
worn
