6. Initial operation
6.1. Unpacking and setting up
Place the device on a sturdy, level surface. Observe the following instructions:
Make sure the device and the battery are not exposed to strong heat sources;
Ensure that neither the device nor the battery are exposed to direct sunlight;
Do not allow the device (clock radio and mains adapter) to come into contact
with liquids, including dripping or sprayed water.
6.2. Operation
Plug the mains adapter into an easily accessible socket
(230 V ~ 50 Hz).
NOTE!
Do not insert the memory battery until you have connected the device
to the mains. Otherwise there will be no automatic station search and
no automatic setting of the time.
6.2.1. Inserting the batteries
1)
Turn the battery compartment cover in an anti-clockwise direction using an
appropriately sized coin, and remove it.
Insert the battery into the battery compartment with the − pole facing

downwards.
3)
Replace the battery compartment lid as shown, with the catches in the re-
tainers.
4)
Close the battery compartment cover by turning it in a clockwise direction
using an appropriately sized coin.
NOTE!
If the device is not going to be used for a long period of time, remove
the battery.
