• Devices connected to the power supply during thunder storms
may suffer damage. Therefore, always unplug the mains adapter if
there is a thunder storm.
• If the unit has been moved from a cold to a warm room, wait be-
fore connecting the device to the power supply. The ensuing con-
densation could damage the device. The device can be operated
safely as soon as it has reached room temperature.
• All repairs to the device or mains cable should be carried out by a
specialist workshop or the Service Centre. Repairs carried out by
unqualified persons may subject the user to serious risks.
4.3. Setting up the device (clock radio and mains
adapter) safely
• Do not use the device outside.
• Never use the device in damp or very dusty rooms.
Place the device on a sturdy, level surface. Observe the following in-
structions:
• Do not expose the device to direct sources of heat (e.g. heaters);
• Do not place the device in direct sunlight;
• Make sure that the device is not subjected to dripping or sprayed
water and that no objects filled with liquids are placed on or near
the device, e.g. vases;
• Do not place the device close to magnetic fields (e.g. television sets
or other loudspeakers);
• Do not place naked flames (e.g. lit candles) near or on the device.
• Ensure a minimum distance around the device and do not cover it
with objects (curtains, etc.). Ensure there is adequate ventilation.
4.4. Ensure accessibility of mains power socket
Only connect the device to a power point (230 V ~ 50 Hz) that is easy
to reach and close to the place where you have set up the device. The
socket must be easily accessible so that you can quickly unplug the
device from the mains if necessary.
