HITCHING PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Never attempt to install the trailer King Pin into the 5th Wheel Hitch by adjusting the
trailer jacks and/or landing gear. This could result in the King Pin coming to rest on top
of the Skid Plate instead of within the Head opening where the Jaw is located. The King
Pin could slide off of the Hitch and the trailer could drop, resulting in serious injury or
vehicle damage.
7. With the Handle in the open position, slowly back the truck up to the trailer.
When the King Pin completely enters the Hitch's Head assembly, the Jaw will
spring closed around the King Pin - the Handle and Flag will return to the closed
position.
• If the Handle does not automatically return to the closed position, pull the
truck forward and repeat this step, as required.
With truck and trailer connected, measure rear bumper or tailgate height and record for
use when setting trailer jacks or landing gear in Unhitching Procedure Step 3.
