Riving Knife Alignment
(Fig. 44)
IMPORTANT: The Riving Knife 25 must always be in
line with the saw Blade 31. The Riving Knife 25 is
thinner than the width of the kerf 78.
NOTE: The kerf 78 is the width of the cut made by
the teeth on the saw Blade 31.

Checking Riving Knife Alignment
(Fig. 1, Fig. 45)
NOTE: The Riving Knife 25 has been properly
aligned at the factory. Check the alignment before
making any adjustments.
1. Turn the Elevation Wheel 2 clockwise to raise
the Blade 31 to maximum height, and set the
bevel angle to 0°.

2. Remove the Barrier Guard Assembly 26 and An-
ti-Kickback Device 27.
3. Assemble the Rip Fence 9 to the Silver Rip
Fence Index Bolts 57. (See "Attaching the Rip
Fence" on page 22.) Slide it until it touches the
tips of the saw Blade 31.
4. Check the alignment:
• From the top, look down over the Rip Fence
9 and check that the Riving Knife 25 is in line
(front to back) with the Blade 31 and parallel
with the Rip Fence 9.
• Slide the Rip Fence 9 away from the Blade
31, look over the front of the Blade 31, and
check that the Riving Knife 25 is in line with
the Blade 31.
• If either of these inspections reveal misalign-
ment, proceed to "Adjusting the Riving Knife"
below.
Adjusting the Riving Knife
(Fig. 41, Fig. 42, Fig. 44, Fig. 46, Fig. 47)
1. Remove the Barrier Guard Assembly 26 and An-
ti-Kickback Device 27.
2. Remove the Table Insert 12. See "Removing the
Table Insert" on page 17.
3. Turn the Elevation Wheel 2 clock wise to raise
the Blade 31 to its maximum height, and set
the bevel angle to 0°.
4. Adjust the Riving Knife 25 so that it is in its
highest position. See "Positioning the Riving
Knife" on page 18.
5. Locate the three Riving Knife Set Screws 81
jacent to the Riving Knife Release Lever 40.
6. Place a straight edge on the left side of the
Blade 31 against two blade teeth. The Riving
Knife 25 should not touch the straight edge.
7. Use the provided Hex Wrench 32 to adjust the
Riving Knife 25 by turning the Set Screws 81.
A properly adjusted Riving Knife 25 will not be
in contact with the straight edge all along its
width. The gap should be approximately the
thickness of two sheets of standard 20 lb. (75
gsm) copy paper 79.
NOTE: If the Set Screws 81
ened (by turning the Hex Wrench 32 counter-
clockwise), then also loosen the Riving Knife
Locking Screws 82
81 without first loosening the Locking Screws
81
82
82 could cause deformation of the Riving Knife
