Attention! Due to bodily endangerment of the operator
the following work must not be undertaken with the motor
scythe: Clearing pathways and as a chipper for shredding
tree and hedge cuttings. Furthermore, the motor scythe
must not be used for levelling bumps in the ground such
as mole hills for example. For safety reasons the motor
scythe must not be used as a drive unit for other tools or
tool sets of any type. The machine must only be used for
its intended purpose. Any other use shall be considered
improper use. The user/operator, and not the manufac-
turer, is responsible for any damage or injuries arising
from this.

Before commissioning

1 Assembly
1.1 Assembly of guide shaft (fig. D - E)
Loosen the handle screw (A) on the coupling sleeve (B),
pull the knob (D), feed the drive axle (C) in and let it latch
into place. In doing so ensure that the drive shafts inside
the guide shaft mesh together properly (turn the reel head
a little if necessary). Now tighten the handle screw (A) as
shown in fig. 4b. After being assembled for the first time
the handle screw need only be loosened a little and the
lever actuated in order to dismantle the guide shaft.
1.2 Assembly of protective cover (fig. F1 - F2)
Fit the protective cover onto the lower guide shaft (fig.
F1). Fasten the protective cover on firmly with the screw
set (fig. F2).
1.3 Assembly of carry strap (fig. G)
The carry strap enables ergonomic and safe operation
of the motor brush cutter. Hook the carry strap into the
fastening eye (fig. g / item 9). Check the ease of move-
ment of all moving parts before commissioning. Check all
screws are firmly seated and check all protective devices.
1.4 Assembly of additional handle (fig. G1 – G3)
Loosen the wing nut on the handle fastening screws (fig.
G1 / item 1). Remove the nut and the fastening screw
(fig. G1 / item 3) from the handle and fit these to the guide
shaft (fig. G2). Now screw the handle to the guide shaft
(fig. G3).
Assembly the shoulder strap
Sling the shoulder strap (fig. B/17) over the left shoulder.
Adjust the length of the shoulder strap such that the cut-
ting line head runs parallel to the ground. Then to deter-
mine the optimum shoulder strap length, carry out a few
swinging movements without starting the motor (fig. I).
Attention! Always use the shoulder strap when working
with the device. Attach the strap as soon as you have
started the motor and it is running at idle. Switch the mo-
tor off before you take off the shoulder strap.
Before each time you start the device check:
• The fuel system is not leaking.
• The safety equipment and protective equipment are
complete and in good working order.
• All screwed connections are firmly seated.
Fuel and oil
Recommended fuels
Use only a mix of lead-free petrol and special 2-stroke
engine oil. Mix the fuel mixture in accordance with the

fuel mixing table.

Attention: Do not use any fuel mixture that has been
stored for more than 90 days.
Attention: Do not use any 2-stroke oil that recommends
a mix ratio of 100:1. The manufacturer's guarantee is void
in the case of engine damage caused by insufficient lu-
brication.
Attention: Only containers that are intended for and ap-
proved for transporting and storing fuel should be used
for these purposes. Always put the correct quantities of
petrol and 2-stroke oil in the mixing bottle provided (see
scale printed on the side). Then shake the container well.
6.4 Fuel mixing table
Mixing ratio: 40 parts petrol to 1 part oil

Operation

Please observe the legal regulations for noise protection
- these can vary from region to region.
Starting with a cold motor
Fill the tank with a reasonable quantity of
petrol/oil mix. See also fuel and oil.
1. Set the device down on a hard, level surface.
2. Set choke lever (fig. 1/ item 5) to „I/ I" .
3. Press fuel pump primer (fig. 1/ item 7) 10x.
4. Switch on/off switch (fig. 1/ item 9) to „I".
5. Press the throttle trigger lock (fig. A / item 7) and hold
the device firmly with one hand whilst the throttle trig-
ger is fully depressed.
6. With the other hand pull the starter cord (fig. A / item
11) as far as the first point of resistance. Now pull the
starter cord quickly 8x.
Attention: Do not let the starter cord fly back. This can
lead to damage.
Attention: The cutting tool begins to turn as soon as
the motor starts.
7. If the motor has started then let it warm up for ca. 3
seconds and then slide the choke lever to run „I I I".
If the motor does not start then repeat steps 1-7.
Note: If the motor does not start after several attempts
then read the section „Troubleshooting on the motor".
Note: Always pull the starter cord straight out. If it is
pulled at an angle then this causes friction at the eye.
This friction frays the cord and it wears out faster. Always
hold on to the starter handle when the cord is winding
back in. Never let the cord spring back from its extended
condition.
