Important note: Attaching the prongs and masks
Do not guide prongs all the way into the nostrils. The
connecting block should not be in contact with the nose.
Regularly switching between prongs and masks is an
effective way of preventing or reducing damage to the
patient's skin.
Do not over-tighten the straps. The Neojet is held in posi-
tion primarily by the bonnet and the foam. If leakage is too
high, check the selected prong or mask size – tightening the
straps will not necessarily fix the problem.
Overtightening the straps or introducing the prongs too
far can lead to pressure points on the baby's nose or skin.
Important note: Securing the tubes
Ensure that the weight of the tubes is not pulling directly
on the patient's head and the interface. Rest the tubes
on supports.
The inspiration tube should be angled away from the pa-
tient and the Neojet so that condensation does not flow
towards the baby (Figure 10).
(7) Regularly check CPAP settings and that the arrangement is
secure.
Important note: Regular check that arrangement is secure
Regularly check the fit of the Neojet and its accessories and that they are secure, otherwise pressure points may form. Check
the prongs and masks regularly for accumulation of secretions, otherwise blockages might occur.
Note:
If a humidifier is used, the CPAP pressure generated may rise due to material expansion under the effects of heat whilst flow
remains the same.
4.
Ventilators which can be connected to the Neojet
4.1.Neojet
The Neojet can be connected to a CPAP driver or a ventilator as long as the following conditions are met:
Device delivers a controlled gas flow of 4 l/min to 15 l/min
Device does not require exhalation gases to be returned to the device
Device has a connection for external pressure measurement allowing the pressure generated in the Neojet to be
measured
Device works without an external flow sensor
The device must have an M22 or F15-sized connection for inspiration and a Luer connection (4.3 mm internal diameter)
for pressure measurement. It can then be connected to the tube sets or there must be tube sets (inspiration and pressure
measurement) for the device which have an F10 or M7.4 connection on the Neojet side and a pressure measurement line
with a Luer connector (4.3 mm external diameter).
Among other devices, Neojet can be combined with:
CPAP drivers
Leoni 1
Leoni mobil
Leoni 2
Leoni 2 transport
Leoni plus
Leoni plus transport
4.2.Bonnets, masks, prongs
All bonnets, masks and prongs may only be combined with the Neojet nCPAP generator.
