Installation
3.1
Placement
Always place the panel in such a place that the skipper has a good
view of it.
Please note that the panel is only waterproof on the control side. The
back of the motor panel should be installed in a well protected and
ventilated area. Do not install the panel in a place where strong vibra-
tions could occur.
The panel must be placed in a flat plate.
• Make a hole of the correct size and fit the panel. Make sure the
gasket is properly positioned between the engine panel and the
bulkhead.
See principal dimensions page 38

Connecting CAN bus (control current) cables
The CAN-bus is a chain to which the E-LINE motor and panels are
connected.
The 12 volt battery is connected to the key switch. The key switch
takes care of switching the power supply of the CAN-bus chain on
and off.
The CAN bus power supply must always be connected to
12 Volt (≥10 V, ≤16 V).
The maximum CAN-line length is 40 metres. Use the VETUS
CANrepeater (CANR) to extend the cable length.
Never connect more than one power supply to the
VETUS CAN line.
The panel is connected to the CAN-bus line. Multiple MPE1MBV pan-
els can be connected per CAN-bus line. See diagram page 39.
Consult the relevant E-DRIVE installation manual for the detailed
CAN-BUS diagrams.

MPE1MBV: port and starboard configuration
By default, the MPE1MBV is set to monitor a port E-DRIVE motor.
For information on how to configure the port or starboard
propulsion motor, see the installation manual for the E-DRIVE
in question.
If a propulsion system has two E-DRIVES, one of the two E-DRIVE mo-
tors must be configured as the starboard motor and one of the two
MPE1MBV panels as the starboard panel.
To configure the MPE1MBV, switch on the V-CAN power supply. Do
not switch on any other panels or motors.
• Press and hold the mute but-
ton until you hear a beep
and the LEDs flash.
• Briefly press the mute button once to activate configuration
mode.
The current settings are indicated by flashing LEDs (red for port and
green for starboard).
• Briefly press the mute button to switch between red/port and
green/starboard.
• Press and hold the mute button until you hear a beep. This tells
you that the panel settings have been saved.
The panel is now ready to use.

Alarm
Switching off the audio signal
