CLEANING & CARING FOR YOUR APPLIANCE
Cleaning the appliance
Disconnect power before cleaning the appliance. Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of baking soda (bi-
carbonate). Then rinse with warm water (never hot or boiling) using a damp sponge or cloth. Wash the shelves and bins
in warm soapy water and dry completely before putting them back in the unit. Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp
cloth. For best performance, carefully clean the door gasket/seal as well.
Do not splash water on the outside or inside of the unit when cleaning it. The appliance should be cleaned often enough
for it not to accumulate any significant buildup of debris.
Defrosting the freezer
Over time, the refrigerator may require manual defrosting due to frost or ice building up inside of the freezer compart-
ment. It should be defrosted in the following scenarios:
•
The refrigerator will not be used for an extended period of time.
•
An ice layer is built-up around the chiller compartment of than 1/4 inch.
To Defrost:
1. Turn the thermostat knob to 0. This is the off position.
2. Unplug the unit from the wall socket.
3. Remove all food from both the fridge and the freezer. Ideally, the food should be placed in
another refrigerator.
4. Place a towel or two under the refrigerator to collect the water from the melting frost.
5. Leave the door open until all the frost is melted. Usually, several hours (or overnight) will
suffice.
6. Clean and wipe out the interior of the unit using the instructions in the "cleaning" section
in this guide. Do not use any metal tools or abrasive cleaners to remove the frost as this
can damage the unit.
A plastic scraper is ok. Reconnect power when cleaning is complete.
Light Bulb
This appliance comes with a light bulb that should turn on when the door is open and turn off when the door is
closed. The bulb may eventually need to be replaced. Disable the power to the appliance before changing
the bulb. Unscrew the compartment to access the bulb. Do not use a bulb that exceeds the wattage on the rating
label.
Contact customer support for any further questions about replacing the bulb.
