„ Install the special construction washer with the raised
center away from the blade.
„ Align the slot in the flange washer with the slot in the
gear head.
„ Place the gear head locking tool through the slot in the
flange washer and gear head.
„ Install the blade nut by turning it counterclockwise (left
handed threads).
„ Tighten the blade nut to secure with the combination
wrench.
Removing:
„ Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
„ Align the slot in the flange washer with the slot in the
gear head.
„ Place the gear head locking tool through the slot in the
flange washer and gear head.
„ Using the combination wrench, remove the blade nut by
turning it clockwise.
„ Remove the special construction washer, blade washer
and the blade.
NOTE: Store the brush cutter parts together for later use.
INSTALLING AND REMOVING THE STRING
HEAD
See Figure 9-10.
WARNING:
The line cut-off blade on the guard is sharp. Avoid con-
tact with the blade. Failure to avoid contact can result in
serious personal injury.
NOTICE:
Failure to attach the guard prevents the line being cut to
the proper length and can cause tool failure.
Installing:
„ Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
NOTE: Ensure the nut, special construction washer, and
blade washer are removed from the gear head shaft before
attempting to install thestring head.
„ Place the flange washer on the gear head shaft.
ASSEMBLY
NOTE: The hollow side of the flange washer should face
the gear head.
„ Align the slot in the flange washer with the slot in the
gear head.
„ Place the gear head locking tool through the slot in the
flanged washer and gear head.
„ Place the string head assembly on the gear head.
„ Turn the string head assembly counterclockwise to se-
cure.
„ Remove the plastic seal from the string head assembly.
Pull outward on the strings to rotate the spool into the
cutting position.
„ Push the bump knob down while pulling on string(s) to
manually advance the string and to check for proper as-
sembly of the string head.
Removing:
„ Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
„ Align the slot in the flange washer with the slot in the
gear head.
„ Place the gear head locking tool through the slot in the
flange washer and gear head.
„ Rotate the string head clockwise to remove.
NOTE: Store the string head parts together for later use.
ATTACHING THE SHOULDER HARNESS
See Figure 11.
The harness should be adjusted to a comfortable position
before operating the product.
„ Slip an arm through each of the shoulder straps.
„ Secure the latch at the waist until it clicks to lock.
„ Tighten or loosen the straps until the harness rests com-
fortably against the small of your back and fully resting
on your shoulders while the straps are snug around your
waist.
„ Position the hip pad against the upper thigh and tighten
around the leg using the hook and loop strap. The latch
should be located on the outside of the hip pad.
„ Connect the harness bracket to the hip pad latch.
„ Make any final adjustments so the harness feels comfort-
able and secure with the tool attached.
NOTE: The thumb screw on the harness bracket is intended
for fine adjustment.
