WARNING:
To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the bat-
tery pack from the tool when cleaning or performing any
maintenance.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Hearing and/or head protection
may also be required depending on the type of attach-
ment used and as prescribed in the attachment's Opera-
tor's Manual. Failure to do so could result in objects being
thrown into your eyes and other possible serious injuries.
WARNING:
When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
Use of any other parts can create a hazard or cause
product damage.
NOTICE:
Periodically inspect the entire product for damaged,
missing, or loose parts such as screws, nuts, bolts, caps,
etc. Tighten securely all fasteners and caps and do not
operate this product until all missing or damaged parts
are replaced. Please contact customer service or an
authorized service center for assistance.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-
based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact
with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or
destroy plastic which can result in serious personal injury.
CLEANING THE PRODUCT
„ Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
„ Clean dirt and debris from the power head using a clean
dry cloth, or soft dry cloth. No detergent.
MAINTENANCE
NOTICE:
Do not use any strong detergents on the plastic housing
or the handle. They can be damaged by certain aromatic
oils such as pine and lemon, and by solvents such as
kerosene.
REPLACING THE TRI-ARC
Follow the instructions for Installing and Removing the Tri-
Arc® Blade in the Assembly section.
ATTACHING THE BLADE COVER
See Figure 19.
„ Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
„ Place one tip of the blade under the tabs on the blade
cover.
„ Repeat the steps for the remaining two blade tips.
„ Push the center of the blade cover onto the blade so the
tabs are secure on the blade center.
LINE AND BLADE REPLACEMENT
See Figures 20 - 21
Use original manufacturer's replacement line for best
performance.
„ Remove the battery pack.
„ Rotate the bump knob clockwise as necessary to align the
arrows on the bump knob with the arrows on the string
head housing.
„ Use one piece of pre-cut trimmer line, or cut one piece
of bulk trimmer line 10-16ft. long. Insert the line into the
eyelet on the string head housing. Push until the end of
the line comes out the other side of the housing. Pull the
line until equal amounts of line appear on both sides of
the housing.
NOTE: Line may jam if more than 10-16 ft. is loaded.
„ Either by hand or using the Speed Winder™, rotate the
bump knob clockwise to wind the line on the spool until
approximately 6 in. of line is showing on each side.
NOTE: For best results, after every five to seven revolutions
of the Speed Winder™, pull both line ends taut for best
loading results and to help prevent line from tangling.
„ Push the bump knob down while pulling on line(s) to
manually advance the line.
