Transport, Storage and unpacking
Unpacking
Check that no visible damage exists on the crate which could have occurred during transportation
Carefully remove the packaging material and check that the pump and it(s accessories (if any) are free of markings, stretch-
es or damages , which could have occurred during transportation.
In the event of damage, report this immediatly to the service department ant to the transport company.
Transport
Prior to lifting and moving the pump, please be sure you have following information :
Total weight
Maximum Outside dimension
The load-bearing capacity must be matching or higher than the weight of the pump
The pump must always be lifted and transported in horizontal position
Do not stand below or nearby a raised load
Accelarating and braking during the lifting process must be performed in such way that there is no danger involved for
any of participating persons.
Storage
If the pump is not to be installed and operated soon after arrival, store the pump in a clean, dry and frost-free place with
moderate changes in ambient temperature.
To prevent the pump from moisture, dust, dirt and foreign materials, keep the pump in it's package.
INSTALLATION
The pump should only be installed, levelled up and aligned by skilled personnel. Incorrect installation or defective foundation
could result into problems. This would not be covered by the warranty. Check for possible transportation damage.
The pump should be installed in a frost and dust free, well-ventilated and non-explosive environment. There should be space
for access, ventilation and maintenance above the pump to lift. Make sure that the pump is safe from possible flooding and
receives dry ventilation.
Thermal expansions of the pipework and excessive vibrations should be accommodated by suitable means, so these do not
impose any extra load on the pump. The compensators can be used to prevent vibrations and to avoid any twisting or misalign-
ment. For preventing vibration and noise, you must connect your pump to the base.
Installation must be done closest to the bassin as possible, in horizontal position, at minimum suction requirement. We do not
advice to install the pump more than 3 meters above waterlevel. The suction pipe must be absolutely leak-tight and should be
mounted in such way to prevent any formation of air pockets. The suction pipe should have a slight downward slope towards
the pump if the suction source is higher than the pump's installation place or a slight upward slope towards the pump if the
suction source is lower than the pump's installation place.
Control valves should be installed on the discharge and suction pipe for any required dismantling or servicing. The suction
valve should always remain fully open while the pump is running and must not be used to regulate the flow. A control
valve should be installed in the discharge pipe, as close to the pump as possible, to regulate the required flow.
The suction pipe has to be as short as possible and should be chosen according to the table values. The nominal sizes of the
pump suction and discharge unions are no guide to the correct sizes of the suction and discharge pipes. Choice of pipe and
accessories should be done according to the table on next page.
CAUTION — Suction and discharge piping must be supported by an apporpriate system of support or hangers. Inad-
equately supported pipes can cause excessive loads to be transmitted to the pump resulting in a structural failure of the pump
that could result in flooding and property damage.
In order to keep pipe friction losses as low as possible, it is essential to avoid any sharp bends and abrupt changes of direction
or cross-section. The suction pipe should be kept as short as possible.
