Warnings
• Before moving on, make sure you have fully understood the "important information" section
of these instructions.
• This barbecue is designed in such a way that no more than 50 % of the cooking area can be
used as a solid plate. If the plates are completely covered, an excessive amount of heat will
accumulate and may damage the barbecue. The warranty does not cover this damage.
• Use charcoal in compliance with the standards in force, i.e. the charcoal must be 2 cm below
the cooking grate in the low position.
The barbecue has to be installed on a secure level base prior to use.
Recommendations for lighting the barbecue
• Fill the lower grate with charcoal, ideally up to 3/4 of its height, without going over the grate
(refer to the diagram on the previous pages). Use charcoal that is suitable for this type of
product (large pieces). Specific charcoal that satisfies the requirements for ceramic barbecues.
• The easiest way of lighting the charcoal is to use firelighters for barbecues, as per standard
• Do not cook before the fuel has a coating of ash! And wait for the flames produced by the
burning charcoal to disappear.
• Do not leave the empty cooking grate on the barbecue when it is lit, because it is likely to
become distorted if exposed to heat for too long with no food on top.
• You can adjust the intensity of the flames by opening or closing the air vents at the bottom of
the tank. The more open they are, the more intense the flames, and vice versa.
• We remind you again that you must not pour any flammable liquid onto the barbecue in order
to light it or increase the flames.
• For safety reasons, we recommend that you never move your barbecue during use.
It is very important to keep flare-ups under control
• Flare-ups happen when juices or grease from the food drip onto burning objects (for example,
charcoal). Although smoke gives more taste to food cooked on the barbecue, it is better to avoid
this type of flare-up, to avoid charring the food.
• To limit flare-ups, it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to remove surplus fat from food before cooking.
Use reasonable quantities of marinades and cooking sauces.
• Leave a bucket of sand near the barbecue when in use.
• Before opening the dome fully, we strongly advise you to open it slowly several times, by
several centimetres, to allow some air in. If you let air in gradually like this, you avoid flashbacks.
Be very careful when you open this hot barbecue, because the sudden rush of air may cause a
dangerous flare-up. In the event of a flashback, quickly close the lid and air vents to control the
flame, and be very careful when you open the barbecue again. We recommend that you always
wear heat-resistant gloves and make sure you are protected.
• Do not let children play near the hot barbecue or open the dome.
Grease flare-ups
• Empty and clean the tank and cooking grate, and remove any debris and fragments after each
use.
• If the barbecue is used for long periods, put out the flames and clean it every two hours. It
must be cleaned more often if you cook lots of fatty food (such as sausages). Failure to observe
these recommendations may lead to grease flare-ups that can cause injury and damage your
barbecue.
Warnings in the event of grease flare-ups:
• Keep everyone away from the barbecue and wait for the flames to die out.
• Do not close the lid and do not cover the barbecue.
• Never pour water onto your barbecue. If you use an extinguisher, it must
be a powder extinguisher.
• If the flames do not seem to decrease or seem to become more intense, call the fire brigade.
