Software-Update
The internal software (firmware) of the ViscoPump III can be updated if desired by the user by means of a
USB stick. The PCB has a USB host port for this, see (see Fig. 6).
Based on the design, a mini USB stick featuring a maximum length of 30 mm is required (including the
plug). (Example: Intenso
How to perform the software update:
1. Copy the firmware file (e.g. "VP3_FW_1732.bin") directly onto a FAT-formatted USB stick –
without subdirectory (root). Do not rename the file. There must not be any other update file
present in the root directory of the USB stick!
2. Switch off the viscosity meter (AVS
ViscoPump III out of its slot. Please observe the notes in Section 2.2.
3. Insert the USB stick into the USB host socket of the removed ViscoPump III.

4. Return the ViscoPump III into its slot, plug in the power plug and switch on the power supply.
5. After the USB stick is detected, the loading of the update file will be indicated by the rapidly
flashing of the status LED on the front panel. The rapid blinking will alternate will several short
breaks.
6. A slow blinking sequence after approx. 10 seconds signals the successful update.
In case of an error, the status LED will blink very rapidly. The update will has to be performed
once more. For this, shut off the power supply briefly in order to restart the ViscoPump III.
7. Switch off the power supply, pull the power plug, remove the ViscoPump III from its slot, pull out
the USB stick, replace the ViscoPump III into its slot, insert the power plug and restart the
ViscoPump III by switching on the viscosity meter.
