How to calibrate the bias
current and recording level
1 Insert the cassette to be used for
recording.
2 Press CALIBRATION.
The peak program meter for adjusting
the bias and recording level appears in
the display window.
3 Press @ , then IH or B to activate the
recording test tone.
a) Playback level for an 8-kHz signal
b) Playback level for a 400-Hz signal

* The sound cannot be monitored during
the calibration operation.
* It takes 2 to 3 seconds for the test tone
level to stabilize.
4 Adjust BIAS until both meters

indicate equal playback levels.

5 Adjust REC LEVEL CALIBRATION
until both meters reach the
recommended level.

b) The bias current is now adjusted to
the optimum level and the tape
sensitivity compensation has been
set. Press @, then press
CALIBRATION
to turn the calibration
function off. Rewind the tape and
start the actual recording.
