Electrical connections for B71/BCHP/
EXT (fig. 2-3-4)
1. Disconnect mains power supply.
2. Remove the faston from the positive (+) pole of the
batteries.
3. ATTENTION! Wait 3 minutes so that the motor supply
voltage goes to zero.
4. Plug the battery charger into the BATTERY CHARGER
connector.
5. Fasten the battery kit (B71/BCHP/EXT) wall-mounted
at a distance of no more than 3 m from the control
unit, or install it inside the barrier, and connect the
batteries to the control unit with a 1.5 mm 2 core cable
not longer than 3 m.
6. Connect the red wire to the BATTERY (+) terminal
of the control unit and to fuse F3 integrated in the
housing (detail A). This connects the positive terminal
to circuit in serial with the fuse.
7. Connect the black wire to the BATTERY (-) terminal
of the control unit and to the terminal block adjoining
the fuse F3.
8. Reconnect the Faston connector to the battery
terminal (+) of the battery.
ATTENTION! Failure to follow directions 1,2,3 can
irreversibly damage the charger.
The damage can be seen in the following way: with
batteries disconnected, charger plugged into the
connector and mains voltage present, the voltage
measured at the (+) and (-) terminals of the control unit
is 0V (open circuit) or a few volts (thermal protection
activated).
In both cases, the battery charger must be replaced.

Functioning of the battery charger
When mains voltage is available (green LED DL3 lit), the
circuit delivers the batteries with a maximum current of
450mA to ensure charging (1/10C for 4.5Ah batteries).
The yellow LED DL1 lights when the B71/BCHP is
charging the batteries.
N.B.: if charged batteries are disconnected briefly and
reconnected, the yellow LED DL1 may light temporarily.
If there is no mains power (LED DL3 off) and the battery
voltage drops below the safety threshold, the battery
charger automatically disconnects the batteries from the
control unit.
N.B.: in the event of prolonged periods with no mains
power, we recommend disconnecting the positive
terminal (+) (red wire) from the battery circuit to prevent
battery damage.
The red LED DL2 lights to indicate a battery connection
error. As in this situation the circuit is disconnected by the
circuit breaker, it is imperative that the fault is identified
and the problem rectified immediately.

Operation of the voltage limiter
When braking, the High Speed or Reversible motor
generates a rise in the motor supply voltage due to the
dynamo effect, which is intercepted by the voltage limiter.
When the voltage reaches 51V it triggers a current
absorption that rapidly reduces it, and this is repeated
for a few quick pulses. The pulses are indicated by the
simultaneous switching on of the red 'CLAMP' LED.
The LED is normally off, when the motor is at a standstill or
in normal operating conditions; if it is always on, it means
that there is damage in the voltage limiting section, i.e.
the PTC thermal protection has been activated, which
disconnects the device from the motor power supply, and
at the same time an overload has been forced on the 24V
voltage, blowing the relevant fuse.
The control unit is therefore switched off, and replacing
the 24V protection fuse will blow it again; therefore
proceed as follows:
1. cut off the power supply
2. disconnect the battery terminal block
