Glossary
Auto Pause
While playing a VIDEO CD, the CD player
automatically pauses according to the
signal encoded on the disc. If the CD player
does not resume play for a long time, press
CD · SELECT to resume play manually.
CD Graphics (CD-G)
A compact disc which contains graphic
pictures.
The picture information is recorded in the
sub code area of audio CDs. Because the

memory for picture information is limited,
CD-Gs can contain only the graphical
pictures of restricted quality, such as in a
picture book.
Menu Playback
Playback using the menu screens recorded
on VIDEO CDs with PBC functions. You
can enjoy simple interactive software using

Track
A disc is divided into sections of a picture
or a music piece called "tracks." Each track
is assigned with a track number to locate
the track you want.
VIDEO CD
A compact disc which contains moving
pictures.
VIDEO CDs contain compact picture
information using the MPEG 1 format, one
of the world wide standards of digital
compact technology. The picture
information is compressed about 120 times.
Consequently, a 12 cm VIDEO CD can
contain up to 74 minutes of moving
pictures.
VIDEO CDs also contain compact audio

human hearing are compressed while the

VIDEO CDs can hold six times the audio
information of conventionel audio CDs.
There are two versions for VIDEO CDs as
follows:

Version 2.0 (VIDEO CDs with PBC
functions):
You can play still pictures and enjoy PBC
functions.
