Adjusting the Carburetor

General Information

The carburetor comes from the factory
with a standard setting.
This setting provides an optimum fuel-air
mixture under most operating
conditions.
With this carburetor it is only possible to
adjust the engine idle speed within fine
limits.

Standard Setting
:
Shut off the engine.
:
Check the air filter and clean or
replace if necessary.

Check spark arresting screen in the
muffler and clean or replace it as
necessary.

Turn the high speed screw (H)
counterclockwise (max.

Turn low speed screw (L) clockwise as
far as stop. Then back it off one quarter
turn.

Adjusting Idle Speed

Engine stops while idling
:
open low speed screw (L) one
quarter turn
:
Turn the idle speed screw (LA)
clockwise until chain begins to run –
then back it off one quarter of a turn.
