TO CHECK THE ALIGNMENT OF THE RIP FENCE
TO THE BLADE
See Figure 46.
The rip fence must be parallel to the saw blade and the miter
gauge grooves.
WARNING:
A misaligned rip fence can cause kickbacks and jams.
To reduce the risk of injury, always maintain proper rip
fence alignment.
 Unplug the saw.
 Remove the blade guard, riving knife, and anti-kickback
pawls. Raise the blade by turning the height adjusting
handwheel.
 Verify the blade is parallel to the miter gauge groove as
described in the Adjusting the Blade Parallel to the Miter
Gauge Groove (Removing Heel) section in Operations.
 Move the rip fence near the saw blade (about three inches
away) and lock the rip fence in place with the locking lever.
 Mark beside one of the blade teeth at the front of the
blade. Using a ruler, measure the distance from the inside
face of the blade tooth to the to the inside face of the rip
fence.
NOTE: For greater accuracy, place the marked blade
tooth on top of the ruler.
 Turn the blade so the marked tooth is at the back.
WARNING:
When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
Use of any other parts could create a hazard or cause
product damage.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked
to comply with ANSI Z87.1 during product operation. If
operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask.
WARNING:
Before performing any maintenance, make sure the tool
is unplugged from the power supply and the switch is in
the OFF ( O ) position. Failure to heed this warning could
result in serious personal injury.
ADJUSTMENTS
 Move the ruler to the rear and again measure the distance
from the inside face of the blade tooth to the inside face
of the rip fence. If the distances are the same, the blade
and the rip fence are parallel.
If the distances are different:
 Using a 10 mm wrench loosen the two bolts on the fence
and align it.
 Retighten the two bolts.
 Make two or three test cuts on scrap wood. If the cuts
are not true, repeat the process.

MAINTENANCE

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-
based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact
with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken, or
destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
 Periodically check all clamps, nuts, bolts, and screws for
tightness and condition. Make sure the throat plate is in
good condition and in position.
 Check the blade guard assembly.
 To maintain the table surfaces, fence, and rails,
periodically apply paste wax to them and buff to provide
smooth functioning.
