Troubleshooting
If the device does not work properly, check whether you are able to rectify the problem your-
self. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps that are listed, contact the customer service
department.
Do not attempt to repair a electrical device yourself!
Problem
The device cannot
be switched on. / The
operating lamp (15)
does not light up.
The fuse in the fuse
box is triggered.
Water runs out of
the device.
The espresso /
coffee runs along
the outside of the
portafi lter (10).

Possible cause
The mains plug is not inserted
correctly in the socket.
The plug socket is defective.
There is no mains voltage.
The On / Off switch (14) has not
been pressed.
Too many devices connected to
the same circuit.
There is too much water in the
water tank (3).
The brewing position or steam
position has been set.
The drip tray (8) is full.
The portafi lter is not inserted
correctly.
The rim of the portafi lter
is contaminated with
espresso / coffee powder.
The coffee pad sits on the rim.
Fix
Correct the fi t of the mains plug.
Try another plug
socket.
Check the fuse of the mains
connection.
Press the On / Off switch to
switch on the device.
Reduce the number of devices in
the circuit.
Do not overfi ll the water tank!
Always move the selector switch
to the
position when there is
no vessel under the portafi lter
outlet or the steam nozzle (4).
Empty the drip tray.
Check that it fi ts correctly (see
the "Handling and Operation"
chapter – "Inserting the
Portafi lter into the Device").
Clean the portafi lter and the
sieve insert (11).
Insert the coffee pad correctly.
