Range Teach
The position determining magnetic tape can be ordered
cut to length or in a particular length. The measuring length
(see Section 4.3.5) is unknown to the sensor head. For
defined operation the measurement range should first be
taught.
The system commands Teach Range Minimum and Teach
Range Maximum are provided for this function. The
commands must each be carried out while the BML is at
the start and end. The set limits are stored as raw values
(depending on the coding of the magnetic tape) in the
Measurement Range Limits parameter.
Output Characteristics
Using the parameter Output Characteristics you can rotate
the signal direction of the data value. Here the signal is
reflected within the set measurement range.
Setting an offset
The output value can have an offset assigned to it. Here
the desired value can be written to the Offset parameter.
The BML adds this value to the measured position and
outputs the sum.
Preset Teach
The Preset Teach function allows you to automatically
calculate the offset value.
1. Write the desired output value to the Preset parameter.
2. Move the sensor head to the desired position.
3. Carry out the Teach Preset system command.
4. The BML calculates the offset so that the preset value
is output at the arrived position.
MDC Describer
The limits Lower Limit and Upper Limit in the MDC
Describer define the value range of the output
measurement value. If the offset is not set, then the
measurement value starts at 0.
Enable Detection Range (Read Only)
Sensor heads using the Smart Sensor Profile Ed. 2 can
output a range with less accuracy outside the
measurement range. This range is not available to the
BML. This parameter is used for information purposes.
