7.4 Connecting switch strip – RK MultiControl quadro

7.4.1 Functional description

The new version of the RK MultiControl quadro offers a safety shutdown function for protection
at crushing and shearing points. This function is achieved by connecting a switch strip to the con-
troller. The safety shutdown function is only possible in conjunction with a 6-button hand-switch.
Operating principle: if a switch strip is not actuated, it does not have any effect upon the normal
mode of function of the controller and lifting columns. If the switch strip is pressed, the controller
stops all connected drives.
The switch strip is connected to socket 8 -Special function (see page 54). When delivered, a
dummy plug is plugged into socket 8 -Special function. Remove the dummy plug. The error
message E007 appears in the display of the hand switch. Attach the switch strip. The error is dele-
ted automatically. If the initialisation run is interrupted by operating the switch strip, the error
message E008 appears on the display of the hand switch. Once the obstacle has been removed,
the initialisation run must be repeated.
If the switch strip is actuated when extending or retracting the lifting column / lifting columns, the
controller switches off the lifting column. The lifting columns stop and remain at this stop posi-
tion. Movement is not possible. The error message E008 appears on the display of the hand swit-
ch. After removing the obstacle, the switch strip is not actuated. The error message E008 is
acknowledged by pressing the F-button on the hand switch. The lifting columns connected can
now be moved again.
If the switch strip cannot be set to deactivated without moving the lifting columns, the F button
on the hand switch must be kept pressed until the lifting columns are moved by the controller. Af-
ter moving the lifting columns, the switch strip is not actuated. The error message E008 is dele-
ted.
