b) Do not point the tool towards yourself or any-
one nearby. Unexpected triggering will discharge
the fastener (nail) causing an injury.
c) Do not actuate the tool unless the tool is placed
firmly against the workpiece. If the tool is not in
contact with the workpiece, the fastener (nail) may
be deflected away from your target.
d) Disconnect the tool from the power source when
the fastener (nail) jams in the tool. While removing
a jammed fastener (nail), the fastening tool may be
accidentally activated if it is plugged in.
e) Use caution while removing a jammed fastener
(nail). The mechanism may be under compression
and the fastener (nail) may be forcefully discharged
while attempting to free a jammed condition.
f)
When fastening electrical cables, make sure the
cables are not energized. Hold the fastening tool
only by insulated gripping surfaces. Use only
fasteners (nails) designed for electrical cable in-
stallations. Inspect that the fastener (nail) has not
damaged the insulation of the electrical cables. A
fastener (nail) that damages the insulation of electric
cables can lead to electric shock and fire hazards.

3.3 Additional safety instructions

3.3.1 Careful handling and use of fastening tools
a) Modification of the tool is not permissible.
b) If individual identification marks are applied to the
tool, make sure that this does not damage the tool
casing.
c) Remove the battery before storing or transporting
the tool.
d) Always unload the tool (remove the battery and
nails) before cleaning, servicing and repairs, be-
fore breaks and before storing the tool.
e) Store machines, when not in use, in a secure
place. When not in use, machines must be stored
in a dry, high place or locked away out of reach
of children.
f)
Keep the arms slightly bent while operating the
tool (do not straighten the arms).
g) Pull the safety trigger only when the tool is
pressed against the workpiece at right angles
and when the edge distance and fastener spacing
distance have been observed (see technical data
sheet for the nail).
h) Always hold the tool securely and at right angles
to the working surface when driving a fastener.
This will prevent fasteners being deflected by the
working surface.
i)
Never redrive a fastener. This may cause the
fastener to break and the tool may jam.
j)
Never drive fasteners into existing holes unless
this is recommended by Hilti.
k) Always observe the application guidelines.
l)
Use of the tool's nosepiece as a grip is not per-
missible.
m) Do not use the magazine as a grip.
n) Use of the tool as a hammering device is not
permissible.
o) Never drop the tool.
p) A nail will be ejected by the tool if it is triggered
unexpectedly, possibly leading to injury. Never press
the nose of the tool against your hand or other
part of your body or the body of another person.
In the event of a malfunction, remove the battery,
press the nose of the tool against the workpiece and
pull the trigger.
q) If the tool has overheated, allow it to cool down.
Do not exceed the recommended fastener driving
rate.
r)
Never use the tool if the applicable safety devices
have been damaged or removed.
3.3.2 Battery tool use and care
a) Observe the special guidelines applicable to the
transport, storage and use of Li-ion batteries.
b) Do not expose batteries to high temperatures and
keep them away from fire. This presents a risk of
explosion.
c) Do not disassemble, squash or incinerate batter-
ies and do not subject them to temperatures over
80°C. This presents a risk of fire, explosion or injury
through contact with caustic substances.
d) Use only batteries of the type approved for use
with the applicable tool. Use of other batteries or
use of the batteries for purposes for which they are
not intended presents a risk of fire and explosion.
e) Do not use the battery as a power source for other
unspecified appliances.
f)
Do not use excessive force when fitting or remov-
ing the battery.
g) Do not charge or continue to use damaged bat-
teries (e.g. batteries with cracks, broken parts,
bent or pushed-in and/or pulled-out contacts).
h) Avoid short circuiting the battery terminals. Check
that the battery terminals and the terminals in the
device are free from foreign objects before inserting
the battery in the device. Short circuiting the bat-
tery terminals presents a risk of fire, explosion and
chemical burns.
i)
Do not use the tool in wet weather (raining) or in
damp conditions.
j)
Avoid ingress of moisture. Ingress of moisture may
cause a short circuit, resulting in burning injuries or
fire.
3.3.3 Work area safety
a) Do not attempt to drive fasteners into unsuitable
materials. Materials that are too hard, e.g. welded
steel and cast iron. Materials that are too soft, e.g.
wood and drywall panel (gypsum board). Materials
that are too brittle, e.g. glass and ceramic tiles.
Driving a fastener into these materials may cause
the fastener to break, shatter or to be driven right
through.
b) Before driving fasteners, check that no one is
present immediately behind or below the working
surface.
c) Keep the grips dry, clean and free from oil and
grease.
