Fig. 69
- Uncover the slots in the fuselage for the fin.
Fig. 70
- Slide the tailplane into the slots, set it exactly central and
"square", then pin it in place.
- Run a felt-tip pen along the fuselage sides top and bot-
tom to mark the joint area on the tailplane.
- Remove the tailplane again.
Fig. 71
- Slit the covering film on the tailplane to uncover the joint
surfaces, cutting just inside the marked lines.
Caution: take great care to avoid cutting into the wood.
Figs. 72 and 73
- Press the captive nut RC 9 into the wing retainer plate R
18 / R 18a from the underside, and apply epoxy round the
flange to prevent it working loose.
Fig. 74
- Place the wing on the fuselage and secure it with the pla-
stic retaining screw RC 10.
- The tailplane and fin should be glued to the fuselage using
epoxy or white glue.
- Slide the tailplane into its slots and centre it carefully.
Check its alignment with the wing: X right = X left.
- Allow the glued joints to dry out thoroughly.
Fig. 75
- Tape the elevator at the neutral position.
- Bend the end of the elevator pushrod as described for the
rudder linkage, and connect it to the elevator horn.
Fig. 76
- It is important that the fin is glued exactly at right-angles
to the tailplane - see also Fig. 74.
- Leave the joints to cure fully.

Fig. 77
- Tape the rudder at the centre position, and mark the point
on the pushrod where it crosses the linkage hole in the
rudder horn.
Fig. 78
- Bend up the tail end of the rudder pushrod at right-angles
at the marked point, and connect it to the rudder horn.
Snip off excess pushrod material, leaving a stub about 6
mm long.
- Epoxy the guide tubes to the pushrod support R 32 and
the slots in the tail end of the fuselage.
Fig. 79
- Remove the covering film over the slot for the tailskid R
33 on the underside of the fuselage.
Fig. 80
- Glue the tailskid R 33 in the fuselage slot.
Fig. 81
- Bend the main undercarriage unit RC 11 to the shape
shown in the full-size drawing on the plan.
Fig. 82
- Epoxy the main undercarriage unit and the undercarriage
retainer plate R 8a in the slot in the fuselage.
Figs. 83 and 84
- Fit the wheels RC 1, the collets RC 13 and the brass
sleeves RC 14 on the wheel axles, check that the wheels
rotate freely, then tighten the collet screws.
Fig. 85
- Attach matching connectors to the motor RC 15, the
speed controller RC 0 and the flight battery RC .
Fig. 86
- Install the brushless motor, and secure it using the retai-
ning screws RC 16 and the shakeproof washers RC 17.
Fig. 87
- Fit the propeller driver RC 18 on the motor shaft and tigh-
ten the retaining screw as shown.
10
Fig. 88
- Slip the propeller RC 19 on the propeller driver and tigh-
ten the retaining nut.
Fig. 89
- Connect the speed controller RC 0 to the motor and
secure it in the battery compartment using Velcro (hook-
and-loop) tape. Run the three-core lead back into the
cabin area.
Fig. 90
- Fix the receiver RC 1 to the servo plate using Velcro
tape. Connect the rudder and elevator servos and the
speed controller to the receiver.
- Deploy the receiver aerial.
- The ailerons can be connected to one or two receiver
channels. The first option requires the use of a Y-lead; the
second two short extension leads. Connect these leads
permanently to the receiver.
Fig. 91
- Place the flight battery RC in the battery compartment,
but do not connect it to the speed controller at this stage.
Fig. 92, balancing
- The model's Centre of Gravity (C.G.) should be located at
a point about 40 mm aft of the wing root leading edge -
see the side elevation on the plan.
- Assemble the model completely by attaching the wing to
the fuselage. Mark the balance point on both sides of the
fuselage.
- Support the model on your index fingers at the marked
points, close to the fuselage, and allow it to hang freely.
The model is correctly balanced when the fuselage hangs
level, with the nose inclined slightly down.
- If necessary, move the flight battery forward or aft to
obtain the correct balance.
- Lead ballast can also be used to correct the model's
C.G., but only if moving the flight battery is not sufficient.
Fix any ballast very securely, so that there is no chance of
it shifting in flight and altering the model's balance.
