Care and maintenance
6.1
Observing requirements for the installation
site
The installation site must be dry and generally frost-proof.
> Ensure that you do not make any subsequent structural
alterations which may result in a reduced room volume
or a change to the temperature at the installation site.
6.2

Cleaning and caring for the heat pump

Caution!
b
Improper cleaning can cause damage!
Scouring or cleaning agents can damage
the exterior.
> Clean the exterior of your heat pump
with a damp cloth and a little soap.
6.3

Heat pump maintenance

In contrast to heating appliances based on fossil fuels, no
expensive maintenance work is necessary for the geo-
THERM heat pump.
Continued efficient operation, reliability and a long service
life require inspections and maintenance work to be carried
out by a heating engineer on an annual basis.
Danger!
a
Danger of injury and material damage
due to incorrect maintenance and
repairs!
If you fail to carry out maintenance, or
carry this out incorrectly, this may
adversely affect the operating reliability of
your heat pump.
> Never attempt to perform maintenance
work or repairs to your heat pump your-
self.
> You should always consult a qualified
heating engineer for this.
Vaillant recommends that you sign a maintenance contract.
Only genuine Vaillant spare parts may be used for mainte-
nance and repair work to ensure the perfect long-term
working order of all functions of your Vaillant unit and to
prevent the approved series condition from being changed.

6.3.1
Checking the filling pressure of the heating
installation
You can read the filling pressure of your heating installation
from the heat pump controller (¬ section 4.8, menu
It should be between 1 and 2 bar. If the water pressure falls
below 0.5 bar, the heat pump will be shut down automati-
cally and a fault message will be displayed.
> Check the filling pressure of the heating installation after
commissioning and maintenance every day for
a week and then twice a year.
Caution!
b
Risk of damage from escaping water!
If there are leaks, water can escape, which
can result in damage.
> In the event of leaks, close the cold water
stop valve in the hot water pipework.
> If there are leaks in the heating circuit,
switch off the heat pump. To do this,
switch off the circuit breakers for the
heat pump.
> Any leaks should be repaired by your
heating engineer.
i
The cold water stop valve is not included in the
scope of delivery for the heat pump. It is fitted
on site by your heating engineer. He will explain
the location and handling of the component to
you.
> If the filling pressure is lower than 0.5 bar, inform your
heating engineer so that he can add heating water and
increase the filling pressure.
Caution!
b
Risk of damage to the unit and system
by supply water that is calciferous or
corrosive or contaminated by chemicals!
If the supply water is unsuitable, this can
damage the seals and diaphragms, clog
components in the unit and the system
which channel water and generate noises in
heating mode.
> If the heating installation needs to be
topped up or drained and completely
refilled, inform the heating engineer who
installed your Vaillant unit.
> In some cases, the heating water used
may need to be checked and treated.
Your heating engineer can give you more
information on this too.
