Safety and warning information

> When operating the geoTHERM heat pump, observe the
basic safety and warning information that may appear
before an action.

Classification of warnings

The warning notes are classified in accordance with the
severity of the possible danger using the following danger
signs and signal words:

Structure of warnings

Warning signs are identified by an upper and lower separat-
ing line and are laid out according to the following basic
principle:

Intended use

Vaillant geoTHERM heat pumps are state-of-the-art appli-
ances which are designed in accordance with recognised
safety regulations. Nevertheless, there is a risk of death or
serious injury to the operator or others or of damage to the
units and other property in the event of improper use or
use for which they are not intended.
The heat pump is not designed to be used by persons
(including children) with limited mental and sensory capa-
bilities or by persons who have insufficient experience and/
or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person who
is responsible for their safety or have been instructed by
him/her about how to use the unit.
Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the unit.
Vaillant geoTHERM heat pumps are intended exclusively for
domestic use.
The units are intended for use as heating appliances for
closed wall and underfloor heating systems, for optional
external passive cooling and for DHW loading.
Any other use, or use beyond that specified, shall be con-
sidered improper use. Any direct commercial or industrial
use is also deemed as improper. The manufacturer/supplier
is not liable for any damage resulting from improper use.
The user alone bears the risk.
Intended use includes the following:
– observance of accompanying operating, installation and
maintenance instructions for Vaillant products as well as
for other parts and components of the system
– installing and fitting the boiler in accordance with the
boiler and system approval
– compliance with all inspection and maintenance condi-
tions listed in the instructions.
Improper use of any kind is prohibited!
2.3

Basic safety instructions

Observe the following safety instructions and regulations
when operating the geoTHERM heat pump:
> Take advantage of the extensive instruction in the opera-
tion of the heat pump provided by your skilled trade
company.
> Carefully read through these operating instructions.
> Only carry out activities that are described in these
operating instructions.
Safe operation of the heat pump
Installation, inspection/maintenance and repair of the heat
pump may only be carried out by a qualified heating engi-
neer. The existing regulations, rules and guidelines must be
observed when doing so.
In particular, work on the electrical components and on the
coolant circuit requires an appropriate qualification.
With the exception of maintenance work, the heat pump
must be operated with the cover closed.
