• To release the particle filter SR 510 from the
adapter, proceed as follows:
o Grip the filter with one hand.
o Place the thumb of the other hand on the
underside of the adapter at the semicircular
gap. Fig. 25.
o Then prise out the filter. Fig. 26.
• To release the particle filter SR 510 from the gas
filter, proceed as follows:
o Grip the gas filter with one hand.
o Insert a coin or some other flat object, e.g. the
filter adapter, in the joint between the particle
and gas filters.
o Then prise out the filter. Fig. 27.
Fit new filters/combined filters. See 3.2 d.
4.4.2 To change the gaskets
The gaskets in the filter mountings of the fan unit
prevent polluted air being drawn into the fan unit. They
must be changed once a year or more frequently if
wear or ageing is detected. Proceed as follows:
• Switch off the fan unit.
• Screw out the filters.
• The gasket has a groove all round and is fitted on a
flange below the threads in the filter mounting. Fig. 28.
• Remove the old gasket.
• Fit the new gasket onto the flange. Check that the
gasket is in place all round.
4.4.3 To change the belt
See 3.2 b.
4.5 Maintenance of battery
For the longest lifetime, the battery SR 501 EX should
have regular charging and discharging cycles. Best
results are achieved with full discharge directly
followed with a full charge.
Battery charging - see 3.2 a.
4.5.1 Battery gasket
Check before use that the gasket around the opening
to the battery terminals are undamaged. Fig 3c.
Any dirt on the battery gasket is wiped off with a dry
cloth. Relubricate the gasket with Vaseline to facilitate
mounting. Figure 3b.
4.5.2 Storage of battery
Note:
• The battery can be deep discharged if it is not used
for a longer time which may result in damage to the
battery cells.
• Prolonged maintenance charge could also lead to a
premature wear out of the battery cells.
During long-term storage a scheduled charging
procedure is recommended, as follows:
• Charge the battery in accordance with 3.2 a.
• Store the battery at room temperature.
• Repeat charging after 6 to 8 weeks as long as the
storage continues.
• Fully charge the battery before planned usage.

5. Technical specification

Materials
The plastic parts are marked with the material code.
44
Air flow rate
During normal operation, the air flow rate is at least 175
l/min, which is the manufacturer's recommended
minimum flow rate or MMDF.
On boosted operation, the air flow rate is at least 225 l/
min.
The automatic flow control system of the fan unit
maintains these flows constant throughout the
operating time.
EX Battery
NiMh battery, 13.5 V, 2.1 Ah. Charging time about 2 h.
Operating times
The operating times may vary with the temperature,
and the condition of the battery and filters.
The table below gives the expected operating times
under ideal conditions.

• Storage temperature: from -20 to +40 °C at a relative
humidity below 90 %.
• Service temperature: from -10 to +40 °C at a relative
humidity below 90 %.
Shelf life
The equipment has a shelf life of 5 years from the date
of manufacture. However, note that the battery must be
charged at regular intervals. See 4.3.2.
